Going back through my old CD's has reminded me how much I love NO, they're a band I just keep coming back to every few years.

However, it also reminded me that there're some tracks that I wish they'd done more with.

For example:

Spooky on Republic, has a hardcore edge that I love, yet the single didn't really bring that side out, going for the softer Perfecto style remixes. To my mind it was crying out for mix riffing of the "angry" intro.

Chemical Again off Republic, this had a similarly agressive, forward sound that had great potential (not to say it isn't great anyway, but you know what I mean).

Strikes me there's a need for an underground New Order remix movement :D

Thanks man, I've stumbled in here in my search for a few remix tracks and already feel very welcome indeed. One of the regulars here has already offered to help me.

What a great change it is to come along to a forum and not be judged by your post count!

I wish they'd just done something, anything with Vanishing Point. Firing it onto a single on its own and charging £20 for it even. It didn't deserve to be an album track, it deserved to chart.

VP was mooted as a single at one point wasn't it? Still, we've got the sumptuous "Making Out Mix" to be content with though...

I heard somewhere that VP was to be a single but Tony Wilson didn't agree, and talked them into releasing Run2, which then had to be withdrawn due to John Denver, after that Factory's finances couldn't realy cope with another single, He might have given us the best band in the world, but he can be a plank.

Vanishing point is most definately one of the best tracks new order have ever done!:thumb: Probably the best in the last 15 years in my opinion!

Yeah, VP is a beautiful track although I wonder (having not heard the remix) can the the album track be bettered?

It wasnt really a remix, more of an instrumental-ill stick it on yer CD,you should have an early christmas present by say next tuesday. No hassle about disc & postage-i`ll send it through work!

I smoothly disagree -- I don't think Vanishing Point had that much single potential. It's a bit too slow and has long instrumental parts. It is also missing a rough edge in order to make it "radiophonic".

Maybe a good remix could make me change my mind.

In doesn't make it a bad track though! Far from that, actually.

I've read that Mr. Disco was to be Technique's 3rd single but Warner Brothers wasn't comfortable with the word "Disco". Instead of changing the title, New Order/Gretton chose Run to be the single.

Not everyone here is a fan of Mr. Disco but you've got to admit it's got one Hell of a groove. It definitely would have been a club classic with remix or two.

Mr. Disco has often been my fave from tech. An early fave at that.

Yes. There exists an unreleased Single Mix/Edit of VP.

Bear in mind NO only tend to release a couple of singles off an album, FineTime was commerciably viable (at the time) as its a pure dance track that captured the era. And Round&Round is a stronger, catchier number which suits the radio more. (imo)

Run would have been a good choice, but we all know what happened there ;)

This is getting to be a review of Technique at this stage. For me, anything off side 2 (Run, Mr disco, Vanishing Point, Dream attack) is worth listning 2 over & over - & would have all made strong singles/remixes. On the other hand All the Way & Love less (& sometimes Guilty partner) feel like fillers to me.

How's aboot a nice new for 2005 fresh rehashing and remastering of 'Murder' in the vein of "Solitude"?

Me thinks that is was waaaaaaay too ahead of it's time back ye olde synth pop days of the mid eighties. However comma it would do much better these days me think.

That's because you are part of these fans that almost only like New Order when they use synths. You are half a New Order fan. ;)

As far as I'm concerned Love Less and Guilty Partner are great classics!

As for Mr. Disco, I think it would have made a great single as well. And the live version was GREAT !!!! Anybody remembers that break in the middle of the song where voices (samples) would be thrown in, something like "One, two... One, two...". I couldn't understand the rest.

Anyone knows where they took that sample ?
