Pumped Full of Drugs on DVD

So, I was one of those New Order fans born and bred in the 1980s, Lowlife really hooked me up, on a walkman cassette for months, and my first video of them was PFD, Pumped Full of Drugs.

Yep, their best live video. And perfect, cause the Japanese fans just stood and politely clapped, stunned by the sonic beauty infiltrating them....

so, the 2004 question: how do I get this video on DVD?

or, second best, is it still available anywhere on this planet earth as a vhs tape???

god knows where my old copy went.....

I got mine from Amazon.jp I couldn't read it, but I did reconise "drugs" in the title, so I risked it and I was correct. I remember it cost alot.

I have seen bootlegs on ebay as well.

I am a bit peeved thought that many have reported paying a chunk for it though. Well I guess that's the price of "Imports" for ya.

I think I payed the equivalent of $15 for my original copy and something like $20 for the newly re-mastered version I bought in Japan aboot 3(ish) years ago.

There was a DVD-R of the gig on eBay yesterday-but it was without any kind of artwork,just a copied disc.

Great rendition of AIIWIW on that video. Academy, is that available on dvd?

wouldn't it be nice if London released a box set of all their dvds???

Well hopefully theyll tour the new album,then well get a dvd similar to 3 16-New concert/Old concert (pfd).

I'm no expert, but I'm assuming the fact that PFD is a Nippon Columbia co-production probably means that there are licencing issues that have so far prevented it's domestic transfer to DVD, and will continue to do so.

Only if it had the following:

A full collection of music video. Pumped Full Of Drugs. Academy. Glastonbury 1987 (in full). Reading 1993. Move 2002. A new 2005 concert.

Plus a load of extras (band commentaries,interviews etc).

Any copyright experts out there? If so please correct me but Academy copyright is owned by the world aids day charity and unless they re-released it I would be surprised to see this being released on DVD, even if they did it wouldn't shift many copies in its own right. If Norder released a DVD collection I assume they would have to pay a cut to the charity or buy the copyright from them, I'd be surprised if either would happen. There are quite a few other gigs that were professionally recorded either wholly or in part so it would be more likely that some of that.

If the Acadamy video is no longer for sale then its copyright is not earning any money for the charity. Wouldn't it make sense to make a few grand by selling the copyright to someone who would be prepared to do a small run of DVD's?

A quwestion or 2 about the Japaneese PFD

1. Does it play on European DvD (region 2) & did it ship ok?
2. are the track titles and DvD menus in japaneese, and if so - can you still navigate sucessfully?

1. as long as your dvd player and tv can handle NTSC, you shouldn't have any playback problem.
2. The menu is in english. And there is no japanese subs.

So, is it an "all region" DVD, or just region 2? I'm thinking about ordering it, but my player is region 1 only.

An unnamed person burned me both Academy and PFD that were put on dvd by a pirate in the UK. We worried about the region bullshit but both played in my cheap $50 Coby dvd player.

That's because copied discs are region free...

The legitimate PFD DVD is Region 2.

I have a copy of the PFD on dvd

when it just got released, i had a chance to go to japan so i bought it at japan's virgin megastore.
i don't have this in hand right now, but if i remember correctly, there was no bonus or any easter eggs at all.
so if your player can read region 2 dvds then it should be able to play the disc.
it will be played straight-forwardly from the beginning to end.

I trade with Japanese guy for my original copy. i sent the U2 brazilian Lp for it.

(I am one of those rarities who quietly get upset (cause it wouldn't be cool or something) when coworkers pass around duped cds to each other... maybe cause i am a musician and can't believe folks are stealing from poor artists.... sure, a britney spears is not missing much, but when i see free copies of indie bands, it pisses me off... so, the last thing i want is to rip off new order.... )
