New Album Info In New Issue Of Mojo

Sorry if this has appeared elsewhere on the site already,which it may well have done, but the new issue of Mojo has a feature on Albums due in 2005 and includes the following info... New Order-"Waiting For A Silent Call"_due in February-produced by Tore Johansson, Stephen Street, John Leckie-songs include "Waiting For A Silent Call" and "Jetstream"-Guitarist Phil Cunningham is now a full member of the band. "It's very guitary and quite diverse" said a spokesman. So there you go!

They do sound like NewOrder titles,but lets wait and see for another month until Q comes out,as all will be revealed in 'cash for questions with new order'.

In my experience Q only announces arrivals two months after the event. It's really gone down the chute recently to say the least. I'd wouldn't be surprised to see the old favourite questins 'why don't you do interviews?' and 'where's yer old singer, Ian Curtis?' Judging by some of the proposed questions on this forum I won't be far wrong.

They'd better omit some of the words of the album title. "Silent Call" would be much better...

Also one point. Usually information about titles and lineups appears a month or two prior to the release, besides sometimes there's an opportunity to pre-order an album on Amazon.com. So far no signs....

An odd title, I can almost picture the chorus in my head, set to a Rock the Shack-ish guitar riff, then Hooky comes in...or maybe someone is taking a piss with us..

Reminds me a bit of former President Calvin Coolidge, who's nickname was "Silent Cal", due to his quiet nature.. and now an exerpt from "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents America The Book"..

Coolidge still ranks as the quietest president of all time. Famously, a woman once approached him, saying "I bet my friend I could get you to say more than two words", to which Coolidge wittily replied "Fuck you."

I went in WHS to browse this mag...couldn't find the article so had a quick look through some other quality mags.No mention of it in FARMING WEEKLY.Haven't HERD of it here!

Was I the only person who actually bought in to the 'Atlantic' rumour??

I personally think Atlantic would have been a decent title...

I remember sometime around May 2000 there was a complete list of song titles for a New Order album (that eventually came out a year and a half later - Get Ready).None of them were correct.Titles were something like 'The Deepest Sea ','Velvet' and other tosh.

I couldn't give a toss what the album is called as long as it isn't a load of guitar-based shite... which is what I'm expecting, and would appear to be the case unfortunately

...last time it was like Technique, now it's guitary...

I'd go for the first part : Waiting (for) (a) So it'd be 'waiting for a neworder' record - which we have been for years.

Also with the last one being Get ready, a followup called waiting is funny

I'm betting my money on Silent call is the first single and Jetstream is the b-side.

I find it hard to comprehend people finding fault with song titles that we havnt even heard the songs yet.If we d got wind that a new song was to be called "Touched by the hand of god"..."Bizarre Love Triangle" .."The perfect kiss"!?.or "60MPH".(my gran goes faster in her wheelchair),people would have been having a field day on here slagging off these titles.But once youve heard the songs and get used to the titles and begin to put the title to a song they (after time) begin to sound quite cool....so lets hold our breath ..or maybe not ..we might be holding it a long time with New Order...

whatever is the title, who cares??, new order is one of the best bands ever in whole world. they make really good stuff, other bands with better names never gonna have the important records of new order new order rules, whatever was the names

Yeah, there's plenty of cool song and album names out there but the music behind might is garbage. The neat title is meaningless. This is New Order we are talking about on this board/thread, they don't have much in the way of horrible music that I've heard but they do have some oddball or even kinda dumb titles like you said.

What are the odds that Mojo have got hold of the wrong end of the stick and this is the date and title of the first single (& b-side), not the album?

Our boys may be pulling our collective legs again.

Get Ready gets played occasionally around the place but PCL and Movement gets more play and I have been playin' their stuff since 1979.

Next month's Q Magazine (due out in the last week of January) will apparently have a review of the new New Order album, or so the current issue of Q states.

So, I guess promos will be available shortly (given that a magazine tends to have all articles published a good few weeks before publication date)?

Could have sworn Republic was originally titled, "Everyone Everywhere," and, "Raise The Pressure," was originally titled "Until the End of time," could be completely wrong though, as those memories are from vague one time readings of New Order articles from a decade ago.

Perhaps they originally title albums after a song until they come up with the real title? Then again they need to get the title soon for the pressings and everything else? Who Knows. Like the other fan, I liked, "Atlantic," sounded a bit regal, like "Republic," did. Oddly, one of my other Favorite bands, "The Ocean Blue,", just released a song on an ep called, "The Northern Jetstream," this year.

From what I can remember, the 'Atlantic' thing was just a rumour. It was quite imaginative though, i have to admit.

I know the album title shouldn't really matter as such, as long as the music hits the spot, but it is part of the whole package for me. I don't want it to have a naff title, artwork etc.

I called Bernard Sumner today but there was only a recording device in charge, so I left a message with a question. And now I've been waiting for a silent call from him

Well it looks like I'm going to have to prepare for disappointment then! If it's anything like the guitar-heavy stuff on parts of Get Ready, I won't be buying it!

Call the album elephant testicles for all I care. Please just let the album be good, and please let Bernard not be lazy and come tour in the States.

I've not the magazine in front of me, but I think Time Out listed the forthcoming album title as "Waiting For A Siren's Call", I could be completely wrong, I'll check later.

Your web site states tht R&B is for 17-30 years old. Doesn't that discount half of the people on this site especially seeing I'm 40 today (I share with Barney).

As the mag is for downloading mp3's, does this mean they'll be info for a New Order mp3?

In the review section, it is announced that the next issue will have a write-up about the new album, too. This must surely mean that promo-copies will be mailed out pretty soon (if they haven't been already).
