I got the confirmation about it, apparently it's also in today's Teletext p351.

There is a playback of the album next tuesday in London!

Edit: Krafty, the first single, will be released on March 7th in the UK.

They don't even know which song it will be, so give them a break :p

It's New Order.. the title should be "postponed" ;)

Is it "A" siren's call or "THE" siren's call?

Waiting For The Sirens Call, apparently, I have fooked up everywhere, thanks for noticing ;)

BTW, I'll try to get somebody an invite for that playback to represent NOOL, don't email me, it's not a done thing, but I'd be happy to have somebody to represent us there, so we can have some feedback.

Of course, somebody near London and available.

That makes more sense in terms of there being a disagreement about where to put the apostrophe. With "a siren's call" there is only one possible place to put it.

hey Spotnick, in the main article you wrote the title out to be "Waiting Waiting for the Sirens Call" (the word "Waiting" shows up twice). sorry about being nitpicky :D

Well, I'm VERY sick at the moment, talking all kind of pills and antibiotics, so it can happen :D

Not that sick, but I'm on the worst day of this quite agressive flu, started the pills yesterday.

i feel you there. for the past two days i've been getting sick and praying that it isn't the flu. fever, increased heart rate, sore throat, runny and stuff nose... the works.

in any case, this news brightened up my day a bit. i can only pray for a US tour to support this record... but that may be wishful thinking.

I wonder which domain name they will get with a title like that this time... :confused2:

Still having a hard time believing this, even if the source can't be more acurate. The single theory looked better.

Its an unusual title for a new order, but it also says on teletext the phil has been confirmed as a full time member. so,its a new new order-this could be the third stage of the group.

We'll see if he's in the promo pictures we should get soon, if he's there, then he's New Order.

Will be very weird, but if it's what it takes to get new records and tour, I'm all for it. As long as Gillian does guest appearances sometimes.

Are you serious? Can you please put the whole text for us, Nick. I think people are interested in some official statement about Phil's status in the band.

Eeek...sounds like a U2 album title! Maybe it is still the work in progress title and at the press release we'll get a shorter snappier one.

My thought, but if Saville already worked on it and decided to go ahead without any apostrophe, then I believe it's settled...

:( I totally agree. And you know what? All these odd things with titles ("Get Ready" & the new one) started to happen after Rob Gretton's death... Isn't there something to think of? :confused2:

dude. you are so totally right, man.

it sounds better than "Waiting for a silent call" "Waiting for the sirens call" should really have an apostrophe as mentioned, the last album was "Get Ready" and now it's "Waiting for the sirens call" maybe a transitional concept.....It reminds me something that would be in the movie "Spinal Tap"

Its too damn long. At least Technique, Republic and Get Ready are OK lenghts

Heres better it ends up being called Sirens, or Sirens Call.

Hm- yeah, you're right.

I just hope that the album is as good, if not better than "Get Ready". Additionally, I'm really, really curious as to what Saville Associates are going to come up with for the cover design...

I really like the title - quite 'arty' sounding - particularly if you take 'siren' to mean those mythological greek women or winged creatures which lured sailors to their death. (rather than the noise a police car emits)..

talking shite again......

Silent Call was more enigmatic and would have made a good final album title...

Still who cares what its called as long as the songs are cracking :thumb:

Where does it go though?! You can just see 'em sat in the studio arguing as to whether sirens is in the singular, or plural! New Order, rowing over the position of an apostrophe. I've heard it all now.

Guessed something was bugging you. You should be listening to the Inspiral Carpets, they know how it feels!

Well when they named the Electronic album Barney was quoted as saying when asked why the title name "well they had to call us something!" So he obviously wasnt too bothered by titles, and I cant imagine the other members of the band racking their brains over a title so it was most likely decided for them and they gave it the nod (or shrug of the shoulders more likely!)

I post this only as a concerned citizen , I know that nool is home to some sensitive types , I dont want any of our more impressionable nools looking at these girl on girl avatars and going into shock, just because they googled the new albums title .

Hopefully miss sirens call will be amenable to those nools who wish to discuss the new album after inadvertantly arriving at her journal .

Dunno whether this has been mentioned before, but apparently Lee Coombs has produced one of the tracks off the new album, according to this link here:

"Lee Coombs. Lee Coombs has been busy in the studio remixing for the likes of Paul Oakenfold and producing a new track by New Order, if anyone has listened to his mixes of ‘Crystal’ you’ll know what to expect. On top of that and a hectic Djing schedule he has also recently found time to complete a couple of collaborations with Meat Katie. Namely ‘Two Men On AS Trip’ on Finger Lickin and ‘HUM’ on Kingsize."

Oh, and one of the other acts on Finger Lickin' are called "Krafty Kuts"... Hmmm... :-p

I like Phil alot more than Gillian, but I think thats mostly because the first time I saw Phil live was on the 5 11 dvd. First time with Gillian was on 3 16 where she messed up ceremony a tad, and I love the look Barney givers her, priceless. But i still died a little.

There you may have another reason she doesnt want to be in the band anymore - the number of times Barney has been nasty to her she probably is like fuck you!.Another example was an old gig Vienna 84 when Barney sarcastically said to her on stage "dont break ya fuckin back Gillian" .Bang out of order!

Tosh, Harry. And hand that badge back to 98 before he loses the plot!

It's never been their happiest of hunting grounds. Three gigs scheduled there over the years (one of which got shifted to Hoffman Estates instead, 1987). The Metro 1983 show was a disaster apparently because the gear broke down, and the Bismarck 1985 show is just about an average one. Chances are that they wouldn't be automatically thinking of Chicago as one of their preferred locations. Depends on what scale the tour is really.

Sorry, it just reminds me of the Beastie Boys, and I can just picture New Order reinventing themselves as some sort of bad techno-ish shite with Barney rapping over the top....no wait, that was Republic. :nonono:

For those not familiar with Greek ledgends, or Homers epos. The Sirens (females) called unwary seafares to their death, with their call. Sailers couldn't resist their call and crashed their boats on the Siren's island. The only one to ever hear their call and survive was Odysius (on his way back home from Troy). He had his crew cover their ears so they couldn't hear and himself bound to the mast of his ship.

Hope this helps. Probably not. Barney likes to sail his boat doesn't he.

These days however Siren Call just means that men are lead to their doom by evil/bad women. Waiting for such a call probably just means that the Order haven't given up being rock n roll rebels. That's if I'm not reading too much into this.

I like Atlantic better as a title. Be nice to hear something new from them, though.

I'm not sure that Rob kept them on the straight and narrow. He kept them on the contrary, but I wouldn't exactly call things like the Hacienda or Dry Bar the straight and narrow!

From NME

NEW ORDER have unveiled further details of their forthcoming studio album.

The LP, ‘Waiting For The Sirens Call’, is set to be released on March 28 via Warner Music and will be preceded by a new single 'Krafty' two weeks before.

Other song titles slated to feature on the album, which signals a return to the band’s dance period in the late 1980s, include ‘Jetstream’ and ‘Sugarcane’.

The LP, which was recorded in Bath, has been co-produced by veterans Stephen Street and John Leckie.

Guitarist Phil Cunningham has also replaced keyboardist Gillian Gilbert as a full time member of the Manchester band.

Cunningham, who previously performed with New Order singer Bernard Sumner in Electronic, filled in for Gilbert during the group’s last tour in 2001/2002.

At the time the former keyboardist was forced to pull out so that she could care for her ill daughter.

For the full exclusive low-down on New Order’s new album. check this week’s NME, out today (January 11).

Who cares about the length of the album name???!!! Its New Order for cryin' out loud!!!! I like it. If its 'supposed' to be like Technique, with dance grooves and electronic disco(that is what I have heard), then 'Waiting For the Sirens Call' is a perfect name. You Brits are so uptight. I'm just waiting for them to hit the states(which won't happen) but maybe since I am in NYC, they'll play here. I think I may be one of two Americans on this website.
Question: Did anyone catch the fact that 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' is up for a Brit Award?? I'm sure you all know this but why is it in a category with Robbie Williams' 'Angels'? That is an insult. -Ned

Fook me this must be a spoof. Coming on here, insulting the hardcore and calling the shots! The real insult (besides your being able to breathe) is that some Will Young B-side is deemed worthy of inclusion in a poll with LWTUA. The Brits is about as meaningful as a refried beans-induced fart.

Your funny. I didn't mean it as an insult, but more of a joke. Sorry to offend. I am really insulted that LWTUA is in the same category as all of those songs. Will Young?? Also, you really think that I'm breathing is a bad thing??? Thanks. I was just stating my opinion. :(

 cheers. Do you think they will play any festivals this year?? I would like to travel to the UK this year to see them. It might be tough for me but I would love to see them live. Unfortunately, when they were performing in the Area:One festival a few years back, they didn't hit the east coast so it was a bummer. They are one band I would like to see before I die. I've been listening to a lot of NO live concerts. They sound great. On a side note, can't wait to see Ian Brown here at the end of Feb. :thumb:

If I was a betting man, and I am, I'd put a few gold coins with the queen's head on on them playing half a dozen of the European festivals this summer, plus a few UK gigs as well in the Spring and later in the year once the festival season is out of the way. Couldn't honestly say about the US though, hope so, as despite having seen them play over 50 times I've never seen them in the States.

I wonder why Gillian is out of the band? Is it because she has to take care of Stephen and her's sick daughter? Was it something she wanted to do? I will miss her in the band.

Actually #2 was a choice Stephen and her took, it was one of them, and they decided it would be Gillian.
