Do people on this thread honestly then believe that Love Will Tear Us Apart IS the best song from the last 25 years?!I for one, don't. I don't think it's even Joy Division New Order's finest moment from the past 25 years. You're mugs if you ever think it's likely to beat a track like "Angels".
Al - I think the point is that LWTUA was better than the other nominated tracks.
I would have nominated stuff by Teardrop Explodes, Julian Cope, House Of Love, Chameleons, etc...
Thing is, out of the 5 nominated, the S**t awards were relying mainly on Radio 2 listeners...
The point is though, it isn't. Angels won because the majority of people think it's a better song. Them's the facts. I ain't gonna get a gob on and call Robbie Williams fat and sulk as a result. WE might think LWTUA is a better song but general concensus says Nope, sorry, it's not. And the very people here whinging that Robbie beat 'their' band would probably be crying into their cornflakes if the roles had been reversed and mums and dads and grannies and kids starting getting massively into New Order themselves and took away the mystique. You just can't win.
I've seen New order and Robbie perform together. Say one thing for the lad, he's a fantastic entertainer. Makes me laugh that some people think they're above that sort of music just because it's 'pop'.
