I'm totally with your version, that's what i hear ( been translating Barnish for 20yrs now).

Tho, I think it may be "THEN I must stay for your....."

Oddly enough, I actually sent that little couplet to my G/F, cos we work together in the same shitehole ( except I'm off on the sick....lots of pain and boredom taken to the standard of an olympic discipline , but still better than that place)
