Two concessions and a claim

The more I listen to track 1, the better it sounds.

The more I listen, the more I am inclined to agree that 9 is better than 8.

The more I listen, the more I am inclined to believe Turn is the best thing they have ever done.

It is almost a surreal experience to be playing the above tracks in 2005 as new.

I find the album to be the missing link between PC&L / LL and T. And I'm so glad it was eventually found.

There are more shiver inducing moments than a grown man should ever be confronted with.

For NO, it was just another day in the week ... which I believe to be the key to the song structures and more importantly, Bernard's recaptured laconic singing style.

No doubt about the shivers.

One reaction I have to 9 is that it sounds like NO saying to PSB, if that's the sort of thing you want to do, here is how to do it.

You're so right about BS's singing on this album, H, to me of course most notably on 10.

Chorus of Joe reminds me of The Cure.

I don't know that I have fully developed it yet, H, but I thought I had already given the general outline. In light of the album's title and numerous other indications, the album as a whole is a variation on the Odyssey/Ulysses theme, an attempt to portray a life, a world, a journey, a day by focusing on an everyman/hero, presumably "Joe" of track 1, starting with the bells for his funeral, then using flashbacks to show what came before, and finally arriving, in track 10, at the death marked by the funeral bells at the beginning. Circular in the way that Finnegans Wake is, with the first words completing the sentence that is incomplete at the end of the work. That's the general concept.

I still think Track #1 would be better with a better vocal melody, the chorus is very VERY good, but the rest is a bit flat.

I feel the same way you do for track 10, but with track 3...

My failure to mention track 3 wasn't meant to suggest that I thought either 1 or 9 was better than 3. Track 3 is brilliant. It's just that track 10 is transcendent.

I do recall that there were such movies but I don't believe I had the pleasure of actually viewing them. I thought perhaps you were referring to some current person in area of endeavor that I don't pay attention to, such as something involving balls and stadiums.

Not sure about revelations, but certainly the unit makes a lot more sense from a design concept perspective. It's quite pleasing.

An element that our erstwhile Marsked Man will be thrilled about beyond containment is the unexpected inclusion of a rabbit smack bang in the middle of proceedings.

It'll be worth checking back here in a few days just to partake in the verbiage.
