If you value things like a druid-free environment, locals with reasonable dental care and a general lack of rollymops, I'd recommend flying straight over Marske and visiting the big Aus.

I don't know that I have fully developed it yet, H, but I thought I had already given the general outline. In light of the album's title and numerous other indications, the album as a whole is a variation on the Odyssey/Ulysses theme, an attempt to portray a life, a world, a journey, a day by focusing on an everyman/hero, presumably "Joe" of track 1, starting with the bells for his funeral, then using flashbacks to show what came before, and finally arriving, in track 10, at the death marked by the funeral bells at the beginning. Circular in the way that Finnegans Wake is, with the first words completing the sentence that is incomplete at the end of the work. That's the general concept.

My failure to mention track 3 wasn't meant to suggest that I thought either 1 or 9 was better than 3. Track 3 is brilliant. It's just that track 10 is transcendent.

So far, H, I have not engaged in the exercise of trying to determine who said what, when, and who did what, when. Perhaps I will at some point.

After thinking about this, I recall saying something like "Maybe it's one of our old 'friends.'" You didn't think I was referring to you, H? I did in fact have a specific person in mind, but it certainly wasn't you, H. I would think you might be able to guess who I was thinking of. In any event, I'm sorry to have created doubts by my failure to give more of a hint. It probably would have been better not to make the comment at all.
