a friend asked me to 'get her into new order' and this is the mix ive made for her..any suggestions anywhere?
i think it may be very slightly over 80 mins, so what should go? any songs that would make it a better mix to get someone into new order?

im gonna make 2 cd's of it anyway - need one for my car this summer...so ill leave fine time on mine.
not really feeling the love for 'turn' yet. seems very popular with most people though.
I believe you will find, Markhus, that most people here are not huge fans of Fine Time. But are of Turn.

Chronological order. That was some months ago, I might make another. The friend I gave that to is coming to the Oakland gig with me. 
The new stuff is good but not good for introducing people to the band, stick to the classics like true faith, bizarre love traingle etc and all the other true NO classics.
Get rid of "Turn My Way" and add "Sunrise". I'm actually in the process of making one (maybe 2) mixtapes for my friend who's going to the show with me here in ny.

I remember making a New Order Mix CDR for a mate about 2 years ago to give him a decent introduction to the band. He was a bit of a "rawk" fan (he loved Sunrise) and didn't see any value in dance/electronic music so I set about compiling New Order's rockiest moments on one disc. Below is what I came up with, I stuck Your Silent Face on the end to edge him a bit more towards synth stuff and show it's not all faceless dance music. Besides Your Silent Face is a perfect song to end just about any NO compilation

FIRST IDEA:
Ask her what KIND of music she likes - dance/rock/punk/indie/etc. and buy her the appropriate album.
SECOND IDEA:
Ask her whether she prefers to hear how a band progresses
THIRD IDEA:
Ignore everything she said and buy her Unknown Pleasures. Get her drunk and force her to listen to it. Give her £20 of music vouchers and go with her to the record store. Guide her to buy CLOSER, and STILL. Get her drunk again and force her to listen to all three while having a good time. Tell her the story of Ian Curtis and how New Order started. The next day, take her back to the record store. Buy Movement and hold her down while she listens to it 5 times. Leave, throwing a chronological list of New Order albums on her exhausted body, saying, 'They're gigging soon darling'
Give it 4 days for the dust to settle, go round for a visit and compliment her on her recent purchase of all the other New order albums and the fact that she beat you to buying tickets for the next gig... Hand over your share of the money and enjoy the gig with a like-minded fan.
If your girlfriend can go, buy her a ticket too.
y'know, cassette mixes 30 minutes to a side were always kind of nice and to the point. So my condensed mix would be as follows:

Probably not your typical list, but a pretty fair balance between Asides, Bsides, and album faves. More or less chronological order too.

That's a fecking good idea. Brainwashing is the coolest! Just make sure you don't let her listen to any bootlegs or let her watch any of the post-hiatus footage until her brain is soft and pliable.

You can't just "get somebody" into New Order. At least I've never tried forcing anyone to get to like them. But I remember there was a time I kept on playing their songs to my ex and all I got to hear was "Please, turn that sh*t off." Whether you like it or not. It's as simple as that.
As I've noted before, H, this is a family newspaper.

Indubitably so.
Might I remind my client though, that ordinarily, I would not encroach on such a subject matter. So accordingly, I would like it recorded that my respect for the newspaper is paramount before posting to the paternity. In this instance, as the defendor, I would like my previous comments dismissed, stricken from the record; pure subjectiveness.

But usually, you start with the "best of".
If I remember well, the mix tape that got me into New Order had the following items on it:

Slow, but constant exposure helps. After almost 20 years, my mum almost likes New Order. :D

My choice is based on something from a time period or another and B-sides. Your friend can check out the newer stuff once hooked on the older stuff.
