WFTSC #5 in UK

As wildly enthralling as this thread is now becoming for outsiders P, I've got a bad feeling about it. Not too dissimilar from the previous two threads that were running when the whole house of cards collapsed.

They sure exceeded my expectations with a debut at #5. I'd expect the album to have more legs than GR, given the upcoming two singles. This is all great in the scheme of things - chart success breeds more albums and more touring. Pretty much what we all want, I'd expect.

Yes, I was quite pleased with # 5. I feared worse.

I think there's a possibility Jetstream will do better than Krafty.

It's an easy target really, perhaps too easy... WFTSC is more consistently good. There's no tracks I really want to skip past or cringe at when I hear. There's more melody and the tunes seem to "fit" better together this time plus the production is less flat.

It sounds lazy but it's more of a "New Order album" to me than GR will ever be.

Yep #5 is better than i expected.But it will drop like the proverbial bomb out of that chart before you can eat a Snappy`s pizza(with or without extra topping).Still,well done to Ceefax for getting the apostraphe in the right place.

I never look at charts but this thread triggered me to see how WFTSC was doing over here: nr 52 (4'th highest new entry) in a mega album top 100; haven't a clue what the status of that chart is and don't care anyway.

It's kinda dissapointing... but I'm sure it won't hit that high here in the states when it debuts. i'm sure it will crack the top 200. Unfortunately, most people just have lost sight of what good music really is.

Totally. The charts in the States have for some time been oversaturated with a million Hip Hop clones and "balladeers" like Mariah Carey, Celine Dion etc. I've never really seen any sort of huge change in them; musical diversity is obviously an alien concept to the main bulk of the American record buying public.

That's really quite true. The charts tend to be heavily influenced by radio play, but unfortunately most of the radio stations here are owned by the same few companies (with a few notable exceptions), and they play all the same songs. I used to work for a "Top 40" station in New York City, and they quite literally meant they played the same 40 songs over and over and over and over and over... I thought I was going to lose my mind if I heard "Hot in Here" by Nelly one more time.

But I digress. Unless NO gets some good radio play, they probably won't get very high up the charts. And unfortunately I won't be helping the cause, since I ordered the album from amazon.co.uk last week... Those of us who live near a station that might play their singles should make a point to call in and request it, though, and maybe that will help.

Although the NYC show (and others too) sold out really quickly, so maybe that is a promising sign...?

"Krafty" entered the german singles-chart at 65 first week!

No. 5 is a disappointing result for the team.

The position is all the more distorted when you see that 50 Pennies has somehow managed to encourage his album of hard nosed ditties about purchasing items from the candle shop to the lofty heights of no. 4. From what I can gather, the lead singer of 50 Pennies, Coin Johnson, has spent all his time working out in the gym rather than learning to play the bugle.

I did read that there was a pizza topped mule discussion somewhat unresolved, and that P had appeared in a Lothario format elsewhere to swoon the ladies, which I guessed must have been late Saturday night upon return from the discotheque.

Citing cheese did appear a deviating tactic, but perhaps the temptation to present P with his own nuances was too hard to resist. For example, you could ask Pastie if he liked soup, and he would simply say; 'don't we all?'.
