Ladies & Gentlemen -- the nasty NOOL bug has finally been found!

And thanks to Mr Richard Lantaville for reproducing it today in his thread, I managed to find at least 3 messages so far that caused this problem.

I will not reveal what it is yet because it's not fixed, but I can assure you it's fixed and it won't happen again, or at least, it will not come back after 1 min after I resetted the server.

The problem was a message posted by Huntsman in the Homer Odissey thread, it's now fixed and well, it's working.

I'm currently processing all the messages on NOOL to find other problems like it, so the system might be slow, and forums might show empty messages until it's done.

Sorry for the problem!

Not really, the server is american ;)

The problem is that we have Brazilian posters, who also happen to rely on brazilian postmen.

Hence all the trouble. :nono:

Is that a confession, H?

Stop being evasive Huntsy.

The New Order community knows it's all your fault.

Write out "I am very sorry" one hundred times and maybe we'll forgive you... :evil4:

But I was only joking. He's the funniest member of NOOL, of course. :)

Do you really think so?

I thought it was his badger stories that made him popular.

His posts are sometimes hard for me to understand unless I really concentrate on them. But he's definitely very funny and very intelligent.

Are you reading this, H? Is your passport up to date?

Getting spam to my email address on here. Anyone else getting it?

Hello, sorry to bother you, but if you love New Order, fresh new indie/rock music and appreciate good song writing then i really recommend you check out the artist "KingBathmat" at http://www.kingbathmat.com and download a free song or 2,

they have a real beatles knack for melody/strong songs etc. and a psychedelic feel, with influences ranging form muse riffs to floyd space outs to complex harmonies , mixed with a more modern sound. It is a vertitable tour across genres.

I hope you don't mind me contacting you out of the blue like this, this is a one off email, and you have not been added to any mailing list.

I am just trying to spread the word of good music by a little known band.

Thanks for your time

Yeah, I received that one yesterday. So did Pope. Do you think she's from NOOL?

I know she is. The email address I use here is unique to this place. I'm not bothered - it was the only spam email I got yesterday that didn't offer to enlarge my member. Ironically, it was the only one that did!

You do realize I don't blame you for this? ;)

Blame it all on Microsoft for doing a cheesy function that instead of failing, run over at 100%.

No, I didn't get that one, Big, although I do get e-mails about once a day telling me about new bands with bizarre names.

Patrick's email address is not visible on the posts.

So it was someone collecting them from the board.

Funny though, the bug that caused all the trouble for the last 3 months is finally found... feels better isn't it?

I got an e-mail offering a discount on some Trill, but I think that was probably sent after I'd posted a query on budgies.net

Is it safe to cheer now? or what will come next? Using Microsoft you'll never know if it's a bug or a feature...

They go together like coffee and cream P.

It's something you either know or don't. It's probably something your just born with; a sixth sense if you like.

and, if you find the bug now, can you switch back to the old, cheaper server???

You have to move on though P, it would be fruitless not to.

It's not really a bug... actually it's the url replacement routine that causes this, it loops forever... I know what it is now and I will fix it.

Safe to cheer, well, we never know, but with the new approach I'm using right now, it should be safe from these bugs... until somebody finds a new one ;)

okay, then I can cautiously applaud

and what about moving back to the cheaper server? should be no problem then.

You obviously don't remember how slow it was, do you? :D

We're good to go now, this solution is cheaper than the last one we got actually, and I believe it's a long term solution and I'll find a way to finance it properly...

I'll have probably a chance to talk to the band's management next month, so who knows!

I got the same one....very odd very annoying

why dont she piss off

I received that spam too... and bizarrely it went to my old e-mail adress, wich I replaced for a new one when we all had to re-register last month!

I have a standard reply that I always cut and paste - I reply to every spam email I get, after blocking the sender. The rather more polite version of my reply is:

'Kindly cease your actions, and insert your pc and peripherals anally, while performing an unnatural sex act with your mother, you annoying female genitalia'

Then I pass the originating email addresses (once a week) to a friend who's an anti-spam expert. For a laugh, he spams them all back, with so much crap that they are usually unable (apparently) to access any email functions without contacting their ISP first - and explaining why their account has been blocked up.

I really wish I knew how to do that...

Sorry for the time delay, being in a different time zone and all. Yes I got that spam as well. It might be easier to ask who didn't get it.
