Spotnick...we need to move to a better forum.

Spotnick...don't get me wrong. This is a FANTASTIC community and you are doing an excellent job, but the forum itself is lacking a plethora of features. Most notable are:

1)A user profile 2)Private messaging 3)A cohesive search function

and most importantly...

4)A way to keep track of our subscribed threads. How are we supposed to keep track of which threads we have participated in? We simply can't.

Please consider moving to say, an Invision board, where we can have such features. Just a friendly suggestion. Keep up the great work mate :)

It's got a user profile option! I would agree on the other points though, even if maybe not an Invision board. It'd be fine if Spotnick could include suggested functionality within this gramework.

While not wanting to jump on a bandwagon, I tend to agree the current forum software is fairly inflexible and quite slow compared to others..

A lot of the successful ones I know of use vBulletin which is very quick and seems to scale well....

ANYWAY....back to the topic.

A search function would be great, but now that the forums are stable for the first time in months, I'm hesitant for Nic to do anything that will shake things up too much. It's been a huge hastle for him these past months with all the server switches, but he's done a great job and error messages are a rarity again.

Hell....I haven't even been getting email notifications from my subscribed threads lately. This forum just plain sucks. We, as a good and healthy community, with a competent and courteous admin such as Spotnick, deserve a better forum. Please contact the person who owns this forum and ask him to move us to either Invision or vBulletin.

well to be fair to spotnik and to the moderators of this site/forum ect. does not performance equal CONTRIBUTIONS??? ie CASH, as im sure none of this comes cheap. ive been visiting these boards for quite a while now and to my shame have not been able to contribute anything to the costs of the running ect as yet, but shall do so as ive been saving for the very purpose. if we want more bandwidth,more features ect just remember that the guys who have started this site which is pretty bloody fantastic have done so out of the love of the band,and not for any cash incentive. thus the site will be limited to a degree till it gets any serious funding,lets face it its a damn site better than even the official site. whilst i aplaud any constructive comments on how to make this site better,please take into consideration the effort,TIME,money and tears already put into it.

I think we're already lucky to have this forum (there are a lot around which are worse) and we should be happy it's finally working properly. You can know the subscribed threads because you receive them and you see the "Unsubscribe" button. Private messaging can be done through E Mail.

All I meant was that you've said you can sometimes work on it during contract hours because it's related to your day job! I wasn't meaning to diminish your efforts.
