Also spotted near Phil's Keyboards in a pic was a rack containing a Roland MC-505 and an older black faced Doepfer MAQ 16/3 MIDI analog sequencer.

yeah, not sure I agree with you about the bland digital synths though...We all know that top-of-the-line analogue machines (and LSD of course) are responsible for Blue Monday (we're talking OB DMX, Sequential's Prophet-5, Octave Voyetra and the mysterious Poly Extra) and one of my all-time favourites Perfect Kiss.

But maybe that's something...the better the gear and the more they get to know it, the less the NO magic shine through (nowadays it's Elektron Machinedrum, Nord Modular and stuff...). Better get Gillian back to trigger and play Bernard's lines a bit sloppy to get the best, right? :)

Not sure why they brought the MAQ to a live gig...I mean, it's not really made for doing full song gigs (patterns should be where it's best). Surely easier to trigger a sequence loop (if that's what they are after) on a laptop o so. Hmm, doesn't really make sense.
