Peter Hook on The Hour

A news program here had a taped interview with Peter Hook during his stay in Toronto (I think) for his DJ set.

He got asked about some different stuff like, why he DJs. He answered saying at first it was about being paid to get pissed but because it winds up getting really lonely up there in the booth, its better if its about the music. They played some clips of him DJing.

He told some stories. One was about a trip in Ibiza and two fans were riding with him and (i forgot which other new order member). They were on the wrong side of the road. They wound up hitting a taxi and the two fans flew into the front seat only to high five each other for being in a car crash with New Order.

Another was being on the same train as Neil Young. Being too big of a Neil Young fan Hook opted not to say hi to him because he was nervous and worried Neil Young would be a complete asshole, which would be devistating to him.

It wasn't long (5 minutes or so) but I it was some stuff I didn't know before.

Did anybody hear his DJing? I wonder if he's as "good" as Andrew Fletcher, who basically just plays records in random order and raises his synth god hands over his synth god heads and everyone has an orgasm. (At least he chooses good records -- when I attended, he played, among others, Blue Monday, Just can't get enough and Madonna's Like a prayer, which was meant to be ironic but I still danced my ass off to it).

From what I heard either Peter Hook plays really rare material and makes himself look busy or he is really is doing dj stuff...he was pressing lots of buttons

Hook plays mainly Soulwax & Tiga stuff on the electronic side. Plus some crappy Blue Monday remix from 95 (the plutone mix with some vocals, if i remember).
