Did anyone here get the 2 albums featuring Steve & Gillian by Thick Pigeon: "Too Crazy Cowboys" and "Miranda Dali"? Maybe someone can at least tell us how the tracks sound like. I've already got the tracks from "Life" (Tell Me, Better, Optimism...) and it would be fantastic to have a listen to those other tracks with Gillian & Steve.
TOO CRAZY COWBOYS (1984): FACT 85; LTMCD 2342 Recorded in Manchester in late 1983, Too Crazy Cowboys saw the Duo initially joined Steve Morris and Gillian Gilbert of New Order, as well as Gillian's sister Kim. In true Factory fashion the album was released a year late. Thick Pigeon consists of the nucleus of Miranda (bass, vocals, tambourine and writing) and Carter Burwell (vocals, effects, percussion). For the album they were joined by Steve Morris (drums), Gillian Gilbert (keyboards, guitar), Kim Gilbert and Karen Brown (backing vocals). Thick Pigeon hold the distiction of being the first Factory US record to be mastered digitally. A unique event for an equally unique record, it has already been called 'a walk through the civilisation of your soul' - not what one would expect from a band named Thick Pigeon. MIRANDA DALI (1991): TWI 938; LTMCD 2381 Again a collaboration between songwriter/vocalist Stanton Miranda and arranger/producer Carter Burwell, Miranda Dali offers up ten object lessons in oblique pop-art genius. A mood of oblique drama is present throughout, with Miranda's surreal lyrics set against a deceptively 'soft' musical landscape (Dali again!). Guest musicians include Steve Morris, Gillian Gilbert, Ikue Mori, Arthur Russell, Martha Tilson. The ten bonus cuts include the pair of cult, minimalist Thick Pigeon singles released on Crepuscule between 1982 and 1983, Subway/Sudan and Tracy + Pansy/Dog, as well as a number of rare compilation tracks and the unreleased remix single Jess + Bart produced by Be Music/New Order. The closing acoustic version of Sudan features the late, great Arthur Russell on cello. Long unavailable, the CD has been remastered from the original tapes, runs for 70 minutes, and retains the striking cover artwork by Grace Jones stylist Jean-Paul Goude.
