Top news. At least you did not say no news on if it gets released in Oz. They must have done a lot of work on it dubbing the doco in all those different languages.

So is it going to be film clips, a new doco, and New Order Story, or film clips and New Order story.

Any news on the title?

And I do hope they remastered the sound of BLT as on all the film clips I ever saw of it, it goes a bit dodgy about 3/4 of the way in.

So, no video for "WFTSC" ??? :skeptic:

That news is..... incredible.

NewOrderStory as a bonus. Just what I asked for on the french forum. Great news, especially for the non english-spoken as there will be subtitles.

That's my birthday. What a wonderful present that would be. :D

I can finally get rid of the American version of "NewOrderStory" on VHS that I have. Seven or eight years after buying it I discovered that the Brazilian version was the complete one (and I couldn't find it in the stores anymore).

I'm actually happy there will be ENGLISH subtitles... some parts were rough on the non-mancunians! ;)

Will the European/North American DVD be the same - or is this a special deal for the Australians?

Nice Name too.

I doubt they will spend money doing multiple versions of it...

this will be a nice DVD, much much better than another Concert DVD.

This is shaping up to be one of New Order's best years. Live Tour, new album, new DVD with the vids and stuff, even iTunes coverage with remixes. And another album coming out ASAP. Nice!

Now if we can just know more about the iTunes session they did in May....

BIGINOIL wrote: So Run will be included - isn't this a surprise?

Well, it was also included on the Best Of VHS and Laserdisc... so, no it's not a surprise.

They just add credit to John Denver for the song, that's it (check the Best of CD liner notes)

I should check the FAQ, I suppose! It's a great video anyway - quite right that it should be there. Sod all to do with Denver though.

brazilian portuguese legend - Very cool !!! where´s WFTSC video? this DVd includes some easter eggs?

Sorry folks, I don't know any more than was in my email from Warner Australia, which was cut & paste in the original post. It does seem strange to not include what will be the most current vid at the time of release (WFTSC), but I don't think Warner would know why that is the case. Nic, maybe Management could cast some more light on this? CTB :bear:

Well, not all DVD singles are regionally coded... it's either 60 MAH (60 Miles An Hour to answer a question above) or Here To Stay, but one of them is not regionally coded.

Best thing is to have 2 DVD players on your computer.. one of each zone :evil4:

ATTENTION:

So are they going to omit the video sections in NewOrderStory since the first disc will include all the videos anyway? I mean the first video section, Confusion / BLT / Touched By The Hand Of God, the second with Fine Time etc. They'd better do! And fill the omissions up with unseen footage recorded during interviewing and etc. OR I've got a better idea: give us THE FULL versions of CEREMONY (1981), TEMPTATION (1982), that would be the best. Also wouldn't be bad to include Everything's Gone Green in NewOrderStory. C'mon, upgrade it a little bit, if you're not going to re-make it totally!

Nic, please tell 'em. That's for all fans' sake :love2:

I agree with above, while they are at it, tell then to bung in all the TV performances from 81 onwards. A full Riverside/Switch/ Whistle Test and Tube would be very good indeed.

I'm excited especially when I've only seen like a few videos - True Faith, Blue Monday, Touched, Confusion, BLT and 1963. And half of those videos were because of NOOL. The dvd is going to be awesome because I get to see the videos on a big tv in good quality. :D

well for $61.99 (shipped free no tax unless you live in WA, USA), you can get the Philips DVP642.

It has a built-in PAL-to-NTSC converter, progressive scan, region hackable, plays MP3, Divx, .JPG.. pretty much the best DVD player ever. :)

Region code and Macrovision hack posted by divuer, April 20 2004:

  • Open the tray.
  • On your remote press '0000'.
  • Press '0' to make it region free or whichever zone you want to set it to.
  • The newly selected region will appear on the top left corner of the screen.
  • Close the tray.

that easy. :)

actually, in doing more research, I think this is the proper hack:

* Turn on player and open tray. * Use remote: 7-8-9-OK-0 (0 is region free, use desired region number) * 0( appears on lower left of TV.

Ahh, I love my JVC... shipped region unlocked (theres an EU levy on unlocked drives, so that added to the price, bastards); writes DVD-RAM, DVD-R, reads RAM/-R/+R; and doesn't care about what shape the MPEG2 on the disc is - scales it to PAL no matter what.

What a ripoff.

For every new neworder item we get fobbed off with six billion rehashes.

Most of the videos have already been put out THREE times (Substance, NOStory, Best of). And the documentary's been out for fucking years.

I'll save up for the next proper album. Next year? We'll see...

Well, 1st, it's no more a ripoff as old vinyls records that were reissued on CD and films previously existing being reissued on DVD.

And it's certainly far from a ripoff for all the non-eglish speaking New Order fans trhoughout the world.

Michael, if you are more than happy watching your deteriorating VHS tapes instead of an official, pristine DVD of the videos with far superior sound quality (none of your vids will include Crystal, 60mph, HTS, Krafty, Jetstream or the two new ones) by all means continue to do so and don't buy the DVD if you think it's a ripoff. Personally I'm very happy with the DVD tracklisting - it's what a lot of fans on this site have been wanting for ages. NewOrderStory on DVD, even if it's unchanged from the video version, is much anticiapted as well.

How can you call it a ripoff if the price hasn't been quoted, btw? CTB :bear:

I think the mistake is releasing NewOrderStory without updating it. Fookin hell, 12 years has passed, they can't ignore them! There would be so much to update it: the split, the side projects, the reunion, Rob's death, Get Ready, the godlike genius award, WFTSC...

BTW I think this is my 1,000th post. :)

this has probably been said .but as there will be a disc full of videos most of which are also on neworderstory would it not have been a good idea to replace the videos on the neworderstory disc with ,say, tv performances of those songs.totp etc. (well, Blue Monday totp is on there but no other new order tv gigs)/i.e instead of the true faith video have the true faith totp or roxy itv footage?

Thank GAWD!!! I paid over $150 for the Japanese laserdisc version of New Order: Story a few years ago. Then I had to go buy a laserdisc player...I never thought this would come out on DVD. Great news!

If there's one thing you can be sure of when you announce a tracklisting for any NO compilation here, there'll be endless complaints.

Perhaps you need to just accept the small mercy that they've finally bothered to offer us a fairly comprehensive DVD anthology. Treat the inclusion of NewOrderStory as an added bonus. Knowing how slow the cogs turn with New Order and London, getting a production team in to substantially update or supplement NewOrderStory just for this DVD is a bit of a pipe dream.

Perhaps in 5-10 years when this merry ride is all over, someone will bother to complete the story from 1993 until Hooky trudges off stage in exasperation for the very last time. Then it'll be a complete document. Until then, may as well be grateful to have the opportunity to replace your decaying VCR tapes.

:\pimp3:

I can't really add a lot more to what everyone else has said about the DVD, apart from this: it'll also benefit those fans who missed out on all the old stuff first time around, whether it's because they were too young at the time or just weren't into NO back then. For those people, it won't be a rip-off.

But of course, a lot of the old stuff is pretty much easily obtainable. All the music vids are, all of which can be dowloaded for free (although quite why anyone would want the Jetstream Video is beyond me) as is the New Order story. I'll buy the damn thing, but only cos i cant be arsed downloading.

Sometimes, I just can't believe what I'm reading here.

How, in any way, can you qualify the presence of NewOrderStory as a ripoff. It's a f***ing bonus, it's not the main feature.

I mean, how many bands would sell their vids and add a wonderful even though a bit outdated documentary.

They don't even sell NewOrderStory, it's a B-O-N-U-S!

Agree with an update to the story...there's at least a decade of material they could put on it.

Looking forward to seeing a Temptation video although I hope they didn't use the crappy substance version as I'll be very dissapointed.
