Very close to mine :thumb:

hmmm...i dunno some pretty great songs are included in this list..the only one i totally AGREE with is slow jam.

my irrefutable  list would include:

we all stand.........boring as hell slow jam.............boring as all hell shellshock...........crappy 80's pop, horribly dated rock the shack.......eeesh! why?!? confusion............let down of all time, also quite dated player in the league.--depeche mode anyone? sub-culture 12" .....absolutely ruined a decent song 2nd half of republic.--watered down 3rd rate NO

side notes:

Just for laugh while listening to get ready I substituted 'rock the shack' and 'slow jam' with 'brutal' and 'here to stay'. what a motherfucker that would've been.

i've truly come to appreciate NO lighter/less serious side to song writing. songs like mr. disco, WIM, best and marsh, Liar, GIAUE, and jetstream. they're not particulary clever or innovative, but they certainly do cheer you up on a bad day.

This is easy. It would have to include

Temptation True Faith Regret Age Of Consent Bizarre Love Triangle Crystal EGG Ceremony This Time Of Night Leave Me Alone Round and Round Dream Attack Turn

Am I taking the piss? Too right I am. What a negative thread. You gotta take the good with the bad concerning New Order.

can i just say that this is complete bullshit. Ceremony rocks on Substance and may be even better in it's original version. people calling out the Substance versions of Temptation and Ceremony are 100% full of shit. They may be better in their original forms, but you can't say either are amongst the worst of newOrder.

Oh all right then.

its not meant to be negative, its only meant to be for fun. as someone already said , the worst of new order is much better than most stuff out there, i'm sure we would all agree with that.

Everyone cocks up now and again, even one of the best bands in this known universe(At least they're never succumbed to the live gimmickry that U2 fell back onto with the ZooTV and Popmart tours{Remember the martini olive, the golden arch, Trabants hung above the stage and MacPhisto's on-stage phonecalls?}). Makes Keith and the panto horse at Glasto seem pretty tame..

Ok. I understand its only a bit of fun and maybe Im taking this thread too seriously but Im shaking my head at some the songs people have listed.

It makes me think theres NOT one NO song that everyone likes (which to me is strange).

I gave turn a spin last nite. It didnt change my mind but reafirms my belief that what i regard as lesser NO material is so much better then some shite i hear today in the music world.

Well, you're coming along, Jonathan. I guess I'll have to make do with this.

They have done some awful horseshit in their career as well as some of the finest tunes I've heard. However lowlights for me include:

ShellshockState of the NationRock The ShackSlow JamMTOSub-cultureMost of Movement

They've done alot of stuff I don't consider being very good but wouldn't necessarily classify 'The Worst', such as an album track or two from PC&L, Brotherhood and WFTSC.

you can add shellshock (single version) and state of the nation

I'm going to get hell for this one over #14, but I just can't bring myself to like this song no matter how much I would like to.

  4. Every Little Counts
  5. Cries & Whispers

Blue Monday as a hidden bonus track, after 20 minutes of silenceat the end of the CD, as that song seems like an eternity every time I listen to it.

The whole of Movement (apart from Dreams Never End).

Everything else (including "Such A Good Thing", etc) are ace! :)

i agree with you, apart from Fine Time, its a great record, and it was one of the songs that helped bring dance music into the mainstream here in the uk. it truly hit the mood of the time when it was released...

Oh, man, I disagree with so many - but agree with others. well, obviously.

I love Sabotage and Such A Good thing. Vietnam could have been good without the exceptionally dodgy lyrics - perhaps oddly bouncy for No though, I'll admit.

I love evrything about Movement- especially chosen time.

Songs I always skip include -

Thieves Like Us Broken Promise Way of Life Angel Dust State of the Nation We all Stand

But I dont hate them - its more like indifference.Theres no  like there is with others

  1. Rock the Shack : Primal Scream and New Order. Should work, but...

  2. World in Motion: DOWN with patriocy! Stupid patriotic patriots and their patriotic patriocy...

  3. Jetstream: The best song ever, until we see that Ana Matronic BITCH and here Barney's song-writer's-dementia induced lyrics...

  4. Working Overtime: It's not actually that bad, but... IN WHAT WAY IS THIS NEW ORDER, AGAIN? Not even one synthesiser heard at all. This has "Phil Cunningham must play guitars" all over it.

  5. Run: Wow, this'll be great, it'll be- "Answer me, why won't you answer me..." ARRGH! :banghead:

The only track I could possibly condemn (and for so many reasons) is WIFM. Every other New Order track - I like them to varying degrees and for different reasons. After nearly 5 years of NOOL I still can't understand the amount of people who dislike SOTN & Shellshock

whats WIFM? World In Fucking Motion?

I think SOTN and Shellshock are great songs. cant see how people can get so worked up about them either.

It's good to know that I'm not alone in some of the songs I tend to skip when listening to NO:

State of the Nation Shellshock Sub-Culture
