So what do your spouses think of NO? Some of them may have never heard of them before they met you, aye? ;) Or on the other hand you met them 'cause they liked New Order as well. Or your spose may be irritated already by your constant playnig, talking and spending time and money on stupid New Order :). Or she/he just doesn't give a damn, whatever....

It's funny to know :thumb:

My spose would hopefully love New Order as much as I do, if not more. (Is that possible?)

Mum always pretended to hate it, but after more than 20 years of exposure, she knew all the songs. More than once I caught here singing along to BLT. She thought the Japanese version of Krafty was hillarious.

He fookin hated NO, everytime I tried to play it he went like 'Oh could you just turn that shit off??' What a retard! Oh right that was coming from someone whose fave band was Modern Talking, can you believe THAT!!!???

My partner (I do not want to marry, me) likes Low Life. She has the tape as a souvenir of the 80's. She pretends that she is not involved in music, which is true in someways... She has no idea of the who's who of the musical industry. But when she listens to the music, this is Rammstein, Marylin Manson and all this kind... + Radiohead as lullaby, which depresses me... I go to bed once the music is over !!!

So she finds that NO is not a "bloke band". And I would not be surprised if she thinks that I like "girlie" bands...

Wow, seems God awful sad. Me wife used to know only shit stuff (according to her own say) and was quite into Celine Dion (my fucking Hell, could it be worst than that ???) Very happily, she instantly fell in LOVE with NewOrder at first hear. Therefore, I introduced her to Depeche Mode, CURE, and the good off Gary Numan ('79 and present years). So, I must be a darn lucky ass !

'Er indoors cant stand New Order. I had a compliation of NO playing in the car and she changed tape half way through second song.

But my mum use to like New Order when she was in her 60's. She would listen to my tape and then play some of it on her keyboard (which I thought was pretty cool).

I'm a lucky man; the drip drip drip has made her a moderate fan.

I sat her down to watch NewOrderStory as orientation- I think that's the best thing to do when introducing spouse's to your obsession...

Don't go for 24hrPP early on; I reckon thats definately a more 'blokey' film> Mrs. Digitalwaters wasn't keen.

She's not too keen on 'A Collection' either, although even the 'ardcore aint great video fans!

Overall i've got her singing along to quite a few NO songs- and best of all JD's 'Digital' is one of her faves!

My other half likes NO but hadnt really heard much of them before we met, although she does find it irritating my constant playing and trying to educate her on the differences in different remixes. she's a big elvis fan...

My boy-friend doesn't like New Order at all, he has me in stitches because he likes Britney Spears music and thinks she is more talented than New Order. LMAO

I must be quite lucky then. Tricia has been to two gigs with me (said she wasn't impressed at Finsbury Park but loved Hyde Park). She's bought most of the N.O. and J.D. back catalogue for herself, has picked up on most of the history of the bands, has found NO rarities for me and wants to see them again live... RESULT!

Note to others - sometimes brainwashing DOES work :evil4:

Quite a similar situation here. Elvis, George Strait... She had never heard of them before we met. But they seem ok to her.

Yesterday we were watching A Collection, WFTSC - she said that the singer had a young voice and thought it was an old song. Then she made a remark upon the meaningless of their videos and finally said all their songs sound alike :)

Well it's doing better. At least I don't have to get her into the Pet Shop Boys.

Leave him!

Apart from the one thing, he is actually a sweet guy LOL But yeah I find it hard to understand how he could listen to that horid nasley voice. And not like New Order.

My Misses thinks I'm a big homo for liking N/O. Though she only teases me sometimes. My two year old seems to like them quite a bit. Got to keep her off the Britney.

My wife is a fan, she's been to a few gigs with me, though she prefers the indoor ones to the festival type gigs.

She sat down and listened to WFTSC with me when we got hold of it very early, and either she knows me and my tastes very well or she is of similar mind, as her ratings (done independently of me) were identical! Only slight flaw is that Shellshock is her second favourite behind Regret!

she says 'new order? they're r&b, right?'

Not only does my wife LOVE New Order, but it was the one of the reasons we got together in the first place.

1988 Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, girl of my dreams walked into a party at my mates flat, every bloke there was trying to chat her up but she was already engaged to an Aussie bloke. I spoke to her but didn’t really get very far. 2 hours later I was pissed off with constant replays of Alexander O’Neal on the hi-fi, went back to my apartment and returned with New Order discs. Hijacked the sound system, put on Temptation and my future wife was astounded that someone else in the room was a NO fan. Talked to her for the rest of the evening and we discovered how much we really had in common, became friends then….(won’t bore you with details)….we married 5 months later, now have two kids 6 & 9, live a few miles from the original Strawberry Studios and still love the band. Needless to say my favourite album is Technique. THE soundtrack to MY ‘love story’:thumb:

Lucky you.

My girlfriend thinks Barney looks and sounds like Jason Donovan.

The amount of grief I get is unbelievable.

Dont have a spouse or any significant other right now.But My female hosemate has her thoughts of NO. She likes a few songs and gets sick of me listening to them. But she only request i dont play 5% of the time(shared stereo rightnow). She hates jetstream but loves the krafty video because its sweet and innocent.

My ex-girlfriend prefered Joy division which i found odd condsidering she was a huge fan of trance. Her favorite No track was age of conscent and pity for me she made it the soundtrack to our breakup.

my last boyfriend and i got together because the night we first met we spent all night talking about our mutual love for new order and then watched the sun rise over the north sea. it took us a year to actually hook up, though.

BTW: i took him to his first show (although he did provide transportation).

I have dragged my missus to Hyde Park & T In The Park and she's also coming to the Peel Tribute next week. She likes them and was impressed at Hyde Park saying they were better than she thought they were.

She's more into FF, Green Day, KT Tunstall, Kaisers etc... but that will change :D

Most of my exes haven`t really cared for them. One thought Love Vigilantes sounded like David Essex:(

Did brainwash one ex to a certain degree.Took her to the Manchester Apollo 1st night Oct 2001.But we were sat in the seats because i had to compromise a bit as she wasnt really the moshing type. She spent most of the evening looking at the people around her instead of the band. She hated Crystal but loved 60 MPH.I think it was the driving connection she liked .

My wife claims not to like them but I think she's a secret admirer based on the number of songs she says she likes (True Faith, Blue Monday, Turn, Crystal, Run etc.).

Before she met me she was always very anti-New Order. I think this was due to 'World in Motion' and her dislike of football. She also thinks they're miserable and depressing, although I think she's referring to their earlier music and Joy Division when she says this. I can sort of see her point but she still can't appreciate the beauty of 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'.

I'm now introducing our 2 children to New Order, the first of which sent my wife into labour while we were watching '24 Hour Party People' at the cinema. See the new topic for more details of this.

I just asked her - her first comment was along the lines of 'they could be the best band in the world if Barney could sing' - but now she's decided that she needs to think about her answer, so i'll post that tomorrow.

(i was expecting her to say that she hates them!)

I got my girlfriend into New Order by sending her my cover version of The Perfect Kiss over MSN, then she asked for a whole CD of my music, and the next time I saw her after that, she had her mp3 player filled with New Order tunes. Needless to say I was very impressed.

My BF tolerated them until I told him that there was only one man in the world I would ever leave him for and that was Barney .....I think I'll be waiting....

Now when we go to see them, he focuses a mammoth-size glare of pure hatred on B. A lot to be concerned about, I'm sure.

Mine (of some fifteen years' standing) is mostly indifferent to them. Indeed, on the night I met her for the first time, one of the first questions I asked her was about what music she followed and she replied with the usual lame female answer of "this and that" which turned out to be the deeply offensive Eagles, Meat Loaf and worst still The Beautiful South!

I declared my obsession with all things Order at the same time and she at least knew who they were. I think she was not aware of how nuts I was/am about them, something which slowly became apparent.

For the most part I don't expect people I know to share my musical devotions. Rather like wanking, it's a solo pleasure. I was at a gig alone last night. Indeed, I went to see 24PP alone at a distant cinema late one night.

Ps my good friend Chris of the New Malden Order has brought his lady Tricia onside Order-wise but this can make it difficult when we all meet up for a few as NO tends to dominate the conversation!

Mine thinks they're "alright 'spose". He also added "they had better be good on Wednesday night, with what you spent on the tickets, and the hotel, and the train tickets, and...." I hope they are, or I'll never live it down.I've been playing NO constantly for the last few days so he can get acquainted, but he's not too impressed at the mo. Reading through some of the posts, I think I'd better make sure he's had a few prior to gig.

My wife just about tollorates my love of NO, she did go to old trafford in 2002 with me, but that was probably to keep an eye on me. She's even sadder than me though, she likes bucks fizz and doller, and went to see busted, sorry, mcfly at MEN arena a couple of weeks ago.

The car stereo always gets turned off if NO are playing when I pick her up from work.

What a hard life I've got, some of you lot are so lucky, I can feel a few tinnies coming on!

My wife likes NO, but not to the extent I do. I took her to her first NO gig, at G-MEX, and we spent our first night together after. But she hasn't been to a NO gig for years now. No connexion....

Strangely enough, when we first moved in together, we found we had identical 60s editions of Gogol's 'Dead Souls', because the title was a JD song.

My significant other really digs New Order. Her favorite track of the moment is the vocal version of "Let's Go" from the US Best of. In regards to the new album, she tends to like the pop songs and dance numbers such as "Jetstream" and "Guilt..." over the earlier more guitary songs.
