I just asked her - her first comment was along the lines of 'they could be the best band in the world if Barney could sing' - but now she's decided that she needs to think about her answer, so i'll post that tomorrow.

(i was expecting her to say that she hates them!)

None of my former gfs liked new order, at best they tolerated it and tried not to laugh.

Thank god I'm not married to her yet, but my GF is a huge New Order fan. :D

I got my girlfriend into New Order by sending her my cover version of The Perfect Kiss over MSN, then she asked for a whole CD of my music, and the next time I saw her after that, she had her mp3 player filled with New Order tunes. Needless to say I was very impressed.

One girlfriend did think the tracing paper cover for LOW LIFE was absolutely amazing and brilliant. But she didn`t like the music:banghead:

My BF tolerated them until I told him that there was only one man in the world I would ever leave him for and that was Barney .....I think I'll be waiting....

Now when we go to see them, he focuses a mammoth-size glare of pure hatred on B. A lot to be concerned about, I'm sure.

when my GFheard Lowlife for the first time, she thought that subculture was actually being sung by Erasure!! we nearly split up as i was devastated that she could think i had an erasure cd...

Mine (of some fifteen years' standing) is mostly indifferent to them. Indeed, on the night I met her for the first time, one of the first questions I asked her was about what music she followed and she replied with the usual lame female answer of "this and that" which turned out to be the deeply offensive Eagles, Meat Loaf and worst still The Beautiful South!

I declared my obsession with all things Order at the same time and she at least knew who they were. I think she was not aware of how nuts I was/am about them, something which slowly became apparent.

For the most part I don't expect people I know to share my musical devotions. Rather like wanking, it's a solo pleasure. I was at a gig alone last night. Indeed, I went to see 24PP alone at a distant cinema late one night.

Ps my good friend Chris of the New Malden Order has brought his lady Tricia onside Order-wise but this can make it difficult when we all meet up for a few as NO tends to dominate the conversation!

She loves them. Our mutual appreciation of them is what got us together.

She does'nt get New Order or my love of...but I let it slide, because she liked JAMES at least(before they split, sadly),and she has a great arse on her...Tho she likes music, She isn't a Music lover to be fair, tho the arse is the over riding factor ofcourse:crazy: I wish she did like new order with me, because the Mariah Carey and suchlike, that she plays, and I endure are a wind up :nono:

So, a great arse trumps taste in music. You're a wise man, BRF.

I thought it seemed unlike you. You normally seem pretty mellow and good-natured.

Friday nights can do that.

Although to be described as "too reasonable by far" by someone on the bitchy thread isn`t true.

I don't think I saw that comment. I suppose "too reasonable by far" was meant to imply "cold"?
