he will be celebrating the fact that I won't be there in my Celtic top...and the fact that the screaming banshee from the Oakland gig won't be there either...
guess they will have to find someone else to puke backstage this time!!!

funny choice of smiley to use after it then...
none of his kids birthdays are near the concert. it'll most probably be a tribute to John Peel.

Or does Ally Pally count as a 'gig'?!

No, It'll be Bernard who'll be celebrating.
oldmonkey wrote: Who actually does the spraying on the amps?
Saw the bloke in Barcelona do it, but don't know who he was - just one of the crew
Doubt if it'll make it onto any amps but I've asked if Hooky could possibly dedicate a song in memory of a Dead Viking.
It ties in with a badge! ![]()

More importantly - who cleans it off? Or does he get a new set of amps for every gig?? I hope so, really I do....

He says he has 4 rigs just incase of failure, sounds like a man who's seen a lot of gear go down, then found that the back ups where f*cked as well.
Hello!!
yes i am great, thanks for asking man. it is phil(roadie not cunningham)who sprays the words on the bass amps, coz when i'm there i usually do it with him! phil is such a cool guy, we have a good laugh at the gigs.
yes, was first to sign up for community 2, the band are probably gonna have a blast covering sunrise, my fave NO song ever ever ever! it rocks :)
can't wait till the apollo gig it's gonna be so awesome.

Sunrise is a great favourite of mine too. You still at Fallowfield High?
I take it the grills just get popped off and cleaned/sprayed.
That impressive pile would APPEAR to be 2 identical rigs, just in case.
As for having gear go down, as I mentioned in a thread a while back, I heard this radio show Hooky did for the Beeb about electronic music, and he occassionally went off on little "I remember when" rants, and bloody interesting they were too. Somewhere along the way he mentioned having 3 identical keyboard rigs, and STILL ending up doing accoustic songs. And I have a vague memory of reading in some mag, possibly bassplayer or even a g**t*r publication, that'd he bust 2 eccleshall necks....one by godzilla-ing it on the rehearsal room floor, and the other....PLAYING IT!
I know they're delicate basses, but fuckin hell.
BTW Jack, what do you play, did you get a castoff, or did you get told to "fook off and buy yer own ya cheap bastard".
:)
Interesting you picked sunrise, there seem to be two different versions of it (there's the way it is on low life, then a slightly differnt bassline on live versions), and one of them has eluded me forever. Be interestin to hear your version.
fallowfield high? think you've got the name wrong, but yes it is indeed in fallowfield.
my version of sunrise will rock ![]()
i play a metallic green yamaha RBX370A 4 string bass, its a sweet bass, love it. it is my own bass, but i mes about on all the other basses loads and loads, but yeh i got my own. ![]()

Who's Joe? I know. Its Joe Flynn!
Never met a Yamaha RBX I didn't like :) I always viewed my aria as a kind of cheapskates yamaha. I just CAN'T part with the thing. It's completely knackered, needs new everything, and it'd be much simpler to shut up and buy a bass...but I wont, I probably will start buying new bits for the aria, the only shitter is the thought of getting it refretted. Might ust do my time honoured, bite the bullet, buy a new bass, the take the pliers to the aria and get me some fretless action :)
And yes, I AM jealous of the toys you get to play with.
I hope the apollo IS awesome, I've been pissing my family, friends and neighbours off with NO for 20 years now, and never seen them. I always find out about irish gigs 3 days after they happen. Oxegen just didn't appeal, for reasons I've spelled out elsewhere (in short I'm fookin sore), and also the idea of payin thru the nose for a whole pile of cack I couldn't care less about, and the inevitable short hits set. Sort of sorry I didn't go cos it was awesome. But this apollo gig, I can't explain it, something said "THIS is the one to go to", their own show, home turf, bus-able. I'm gibberingly excited, as you can see from my current posting rate :) Maybe I just want to set 2005 to rest as the perfect year....despite endless pain, and having all and sundry conspire to keep me broke for about 4 months, causing a house move.....it's been a fucking great year so far.
1 Dr Who's back, and it didn;t suck balls. 2. I sat all summer and played "virtual viking", listening in to every gig, and loving every moment. And HUGE amounts of amazing NO related coolness. 3. Michael schumacher didn't win. and hopefully 4. finally hearing that fookin shergold6 in the flesh, assumin the old codger can still pick it up :)
I was thinking by the way that you'll need a good guitarist for sunrise, it's a bit of a barnie opus maximus of distortion bar chord sequencer funk or whatever you call that crazy strummin thing he does. hope your man's up to the job :)

Well since the afterparty's gone baps up....
Left cab "ALL BACK" right cab "TO MINE"
:)
EDIT: and let's face it any referrence to the vikings or nool would be more likely to be abusive :)
half te time it is working, there's just fuck all in his foldback so he THINKS it's not. Those roland spd's just don;t have the guts of that old red and black fucker, it took him momths to destroy it (new in TPK video, junk in PFD, assuming I've got the order right and it;s the same pad). Although they're built to be hit by drummers, they probably don't like being clubbed by a mental bassplayer holding the stick backwards for extra violence.

I've just got an RBX374, it's my first bass (i'm an old git living in a dream world), what's the difference?
I love sunrise and can just about play it, badly.
you've got to keep the intro drone, that live rattles your nuts off.
probably deontes it has an active circuit ( preamp with eq built in). But I'm sure Jack will set me right if i be wrong.

My son Alex is a gold prefect at your place. Plays on 1st XI and Joe occasionally plays although is usually on the second team. He was a reserve on Wednesday for the cup match. I met you at the Ian Curtis tribute night in Manchester in May when you were there with a mate and some old bloke! I was actually in the same class at Salford Grammar as your dad and Barney for five years. That night in Manchester was the first time I had spoken to him since we left. A couple of days ago when I was still without a ticket for the Apollo I started to bully my lad to track you down at school and put you in a late detention on Monday night unless you could get me a guest list pass! Dont worry though, you're safe now as I've got a ticket anyway. A backstage pass is all I now require!

Well jack, now you know barney's not the biggest tool the auld boy used to hang round with.
Extortion and intimidation, whatever next. :D
Jack, the penny just dropped as to who you are (i'm a bit slow at times), I'm stunned and in awe, can't wait to hear your version of sunrise, that must be older than you are.
