News about Martin Gray...

Just a brief epistle to inform you of news concerning the man you all love to hate, the Gray Martian, variously missing presumed dead/ in prolonged hibernation/ abducted by the Merseyside Karma police/eloped with fancy bit on his arm (he should be so fukking lucky)/secret lottery-winner turned cave-dwelling hermit ..... whatever the far-fetched speculations. I popped by last weekend at the lunatic asylum - OK, make that Motor Museum recording studios, where our anti-hero is currently (as he has been for the past few weeks) putting together drum tracks with the rest of the guys in Goldblade for the album due out later in spring. I managed to wangle an "interview" with bequiffed motormouth Master of Chaos himself John Robb - to hopefully have printed in a forthcoming local fanzine.

[Interesting fact trivia buffs: this is the studio owned by Andy McCluskey from OMD and where the Atomic Kitten girls saunter in and out to do their stuff - there's gold/platinum discs all over the place here! They weren't about whilst I was there, sadly....doh!]

Marty himself has revealed that he's now in the process of putting his house up for sale so he can get the hell out of England for Belgium or Holland - he's not 100% sure which as yet, though he says he's quite keen to look at settling in Ostend or Scheveningen or possibly Haarlem (he wants to be by the sea, presumably so that he can jump in if things didn't turn out the way he plans...snigger). God only knows when this will actually happen though, knowing his way of going about things..... He even toyed with the idea of opening a coffee-shop called The Tortoise or something - probably another one of those wild far-out plans of his that never get off the ground anyway, so I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you lot frankly...

Any rate, he says that when Goldblade get round to doing a few gigs to let you know where they'll be playing, thus giving everybody curious (and sado- masochistic) enough to check them out and laugh til your sides split at his hilarious "drumming" techniques - usually involving throwing the floor toms at the front row of the audience presumably. BTW, He sends his love to everyone, including all the enemies he's made from his time here with the institution...or should that be constitution?? Sod it, who cares?....

It is strange without Huntsy.... As for marty I still chat to him on messenger, but again it is a shame he doesnt make it to the board more often...

Many thanks for that bit of news Stuw, now we know why Martin's no longer here - he's sold his soul to rock and roll (or summat!) - I never knew he played with Gold blade!! Fuck me! I remember Gold Blade played at Leeds Uni once - when I was a final year student there - they all had glitter suits on and were a right laff! He's moving to Holland for real then - it appears he's keen on doing that...

I'd just been to Oslo for four days doing the lights for our theatre group - fucking freezing it was there - makes here seem like the Meditteranean. Didn't see much of the place as a result of work however....

Yeah - I noticed two that appeared recently and added my bit to 'em but didn't really have time to go thru everybodys replies cos there were fookin hundreds of 'em!!! I just thought it was odd that somebody should have a long dash for their name, so decided to investigate. I think "Heroes and Villains" was one and "Jamie Oliver Tosspot" was another. Many thanks Liv, I'll have to see if I can do something - trouble is, I work in a bank in town and the boss/ management are fuckin tyrants - what's more, I've already had a week's holiday in the New year so not sure if they'll even allow me one and a half days off this month. Employee policy and all that fuckin' bollocks as I'm sure you've all read about. But I'll see what I can do, won't be holding my breath for the milkman of human kindness though....if it looks good, I'll email you about it...cheers!

Yeah Liv, I'd love to come along, but it all depends on work for one thing - at the moment there's no way of knowing which evenings I will be taken up with lighting work for the theatre group that I do work for - there's always usually some events occurring at weekends anyway so that kind of rules out Fri/Sat/Sun evenings....damn! :( But then again, I could hold out til when you do the Manchester one - then I can hopefully also get to meet up with our resident nutter Martian.... ;)
