UK Hall of Fame Inviting 16 New Order Fans

I received an email from somebody from the UK Hall of Fame, and this is the last reply I got:

I do hope you can help I am organising fan tickets for the UK Music Hall of Fame Launch 2005 show and I would like to take this opportunity to offer the New Order Fans 16 standing room tickets. I would need names, addresses and email addresses of all the fans so that we can send the tickets out.

Bands set for Hall of Fame honour

The Who, The Kinks and Joy Division/ New Order will be inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in November. The bands will be honoured alongside Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix at this year's ceremony.

The ceremony, at London's Alexandra Palace on 16 November, will feature performances by Alanis Morissette and The Pretenders.

A panel of 60 broadcasters, artists, journalists, and industry executives have selected the bands.

Music contribution

Artists can be of any nationality as long as they have had success in the UK.

Last year's induction ceremony saw The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Queen, Cliff Richard & The Shadows, The Rolling Stones, U2 and Robbie Williams become the inaugural members of the UK Music Hall of Fame.

Bono of U2 and Madonna were at the ceremony to pick up honorary awards.

This year's ceremony will be broadcast on Channel 4 on 17 November and will also feature New Order, who received the NME Godlike Genius Award earlier this year, performing the Joy Division classic Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Joy Division became New Order after the death of lead singer Ian Curtis at the age of 23 in 1980.

Former Guns n' Roses guitarist Slash will also lead a supergroup in a performance to honour legendary guitarist Hendrix.

The late DJ John Peel will receive 2005's Honorary Membership of the UK Music Hall of Fame in acknowledgement of his exceptional contribution to UK music.

DJ and TV presenter Dermot O'Leary will present the induction ceremony on Channel 4, while Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe will broadcast live from the event.

Well, we have 16, but I'm not saying everybody will go automatically. If too many people request it, we'll do a draw, but once again, the post count will give you the exact number of chances you have to get tickets ;)

Problem is, I'd prefer to have 16 people instead of 8 + a friend, if you follow me, to please more people.

Problem for Ricardo is I need a mailing address, so somebody will have to provide me a UK mailing address for him I guess. They are mailing the tickets.

I'm at work, so it's kind of difficult to keep up, I can't reply easily to my emails.

I've just mailed the lady who offered the ticket, I'll try to get 20, that would make 1 for everybody. Not sure I'll be able to make it 2 for some people.

I'll tell you what, and I think it will be fair that way.

Here is what I will do

Out of the list I have, the people who have CONTRIBUTED to NOOL goes on priority, so if your name is listed above and you made a donation in the past, you're in.

When I get back home, I'll see if I still have some left and will do a draw for the others.

Seems like the fairest thing to do IMHO, after all, NOOL exists because of the people who sent donations, so it's a way to give back.

I just hope everybody will understand if your name is not on the final list, but I have to find a way to reward the people who have helped keeping NOOL alive.

I don't know how you did it Al, but I just got a mail and you've already been allocated 2 tickets out of my 16!!

I just learned those tickets are worth £250 or £75!

This is what they told me:

Just to let you know that additional tickets required are being sold by Harvey Goldsmith Productions and can be purchased for £250 or £75 each through Quintus Events on 0207 351 7499.

Otherwise all I can suggest it that you have a waiting list for these standing tickets and I will come back to you if we find we have some more come available.

So your name will not be kept in vain...

No, I was allocated 2 myself this morning by someone else.

Just for the record, thanks for your donation, but this doesn't mean I'm trying to get money in exchange for ticket... (I don't assume you think so, just wanted it to be clear)

Just wanted to make sure that everybody understands that, and I can't garantee that everybody will be able to get tickets even if you contributed, since so many people ordered tickets.

People stop sending email, the list is pretty full now.

There's one last ticket, and I'll have to draw it like I did with the 2 previous ones.

And trust me, there's probably 20 people wanting this last one!

So I'll close this thread and open a new one with the winners in it.
