yeah, but it's true. The cure could'nt match the high standard of Joy Division,so they went for New Order instead and made a shit-load of cash in the process.

The Cure are a load of crap while New Order just released their best album to date. You can go ahead and remain a Cure fan.

If you prefer the Cure to New Order - something's wrong anyway:lol: Did you really need to come here and tell us that? New Order have been saying the same thing fer years!

Hello Lisa.......goodbye!!!!!

And Robert Smith looks frighteningly like Jo Brand (who in turn looks frighteningly like the news correspondent John Sergeant). And probably still looks like Edward Scissorhands with that sad rats nest hair. Why didn't the Cure split up after they had that number 1 album 10 years back? - after all, that's what Smithy promised to do and I quote from one of his old interviews in the NME: "If we ever have a number one record, I will split the band up - I just don't want us to be seen as competing in that arena." Yah boo sucks to you, andy pandy!!!

Please,

Listen to Dreams Never End (What came out First) and then listen to Inbetween Days (from Cure). If don't see the stolen bass line, so go ahead and leave us alone. Sorry,

...you should've listenend more properly to the things Markus Kavka said. He's a fan of both bands and all of this was definitely NOT about spreading any gossip of "pretentoius assholes" and stuff...it's always the tone that makes the music! Always thought about how Hooky could've said things ? Heard about "sarcasm" or "cynism" ???

Get a life

New Order have actually ripped-off a few artists in their past. Listen to "Donna Summer - our love" for the complete drum programming of Blue Monday. Or "the cure - just like heaven" (released '88) and "all the way" (released 89)

Hi, I used to like New Order, until Lisa told me what a bunch of miserable twats the boys are...I think, from now on, my favorite band shall be The Monkees!!!!

What a lovely day!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, by the way, I am very bored today...doesn't it show!!!!!

As a fan of both the Cure and NO, I think I can safely say they probably influenced one another quite a bit, and if a bit of borrowing occured, so be it, it was the Eighties: We had a B-movie actor in the White House and the threat of Nuclear War and a Boy George solo career over our heads. So what if the boys paniced and began making similar sounding records? At least neither mined the dreadful territory that was Wham!

Now you're really talking Tabsy - anyone here brave enough to admitting to ever liking Wham! ?? And before you start - no, I never liked them. Utter pants.

That is not new news to me! If you stop liking a band because of something they said once then you must have not been a big fan to begin with, just my opinion!

I hope you have fun in the land of Cure...

Long live the order!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a fan of both (but the cure have been shite from Friday I'm In Love onwards) and i did read once that Hooky said he'd nicked basslines off them, the same as they had done to him. I don't give a fuck who nicks from who as long as something great comes from it.

It's fucking useless to go around hanging on the words of every pop star you fancy, then be offended when they say something you don't 100% agree with! If Hooky thinks Gallup took his bass lines, fine by me. So long as they continue to both try and produce great music, I'll still listen.

Sorry you feel this way.

If you don't want your CD's please send them to me. There are a few I need on CD. I bet you will keep them because deep down you know New Order are better then the Cure.

I liked the Cure many years ago, but I can't say they are consistent in my view. Just look at 'Get Ready', it blends in with everything else they have done. It's like they never left and you also know this. The new album doesn't sound different to anything else they had done. They have done very well. I liked the new album as soon as I heard it.

Again, if your serious let me know if you really want to get rid of your CDs. I'll be glad to take them off your hands, I could even buy you a set of coasters for you.

what's the point of posting on a message board of a new order fansite for the sole purpose of slagging them off? did that lisa person, whoever she may be, actually think that one post would make us all pack our bags and leave this board forever??? she really needs to get a life.

Aww C'mon, credit where it's due - at least it's stirred the shit up again regarding the evergreen "New Order vs The Cure vs Depeche Mode" debate, what's more, a little slagging match always livens the forum up a bit dont'cha think?? Why else would we all be replying to this topic with such regularity - admit it, it's addictive!!
I always find it entertaining anyway - deep down if you love New Order, why should you feel hurt if someone slags them off all of a sudden? The affection YOU harbour for them will always be there - surely that's what's important. :)

Robert Smith's band name has four letters and begins with CU. I rest my case.

About All The Way and Just Like Heaven. Can you HONESTLY tell me that The Cure did more with that bassline than New Order did? All The Way is one of their better songs. After listening to JLH, I had forgotten what ATW sounded like. And I played it every so often. And then played ATW like a week later. It's been over 5 months and JLH hasn't been listened to since.

Lisa, don't leave, we haven't even gotten to know you. And if you're unfamiliar with the board, one of the great things is that New Order checks in here very frequently. And they listen to what us posters say. So if we all rally together I bet we could get a public apology to Robert and his mates. I'll be first. Peter, Bernard, Stephen, and Gillian, you are very important to us and your music is very important to us. But it is wrong to say not nice things about other people, other bands, and their music. We know you are very nice people and didn't mean anything seriously by the things you said about the Cure. So we would greatly appreciate it if you could apologize to Robert and say that even if you don't like his music you still respect him and think he's a good person. You have a common bond of playing music that people love. So put those minor differences aside and lets love each other as brothers and sisters in this world of love and music.

Thank you and good night.

Amen, but I believe she may have had an ulterior motive in dragging this one out. Notice how we're all jumping on her case? Kinda like Jerry Murphy all over again....

There are bands I love whose members have often said some mean, nasty, and just plain wrong things over the years, but I don't stop listening to them entire just because of one statment I disagree with. If you're a real fan, you'll take the good, you'll take the bad, put it all together and what do you got? The Facts of Life, that's what......

Major, Patrick, Tabs, and Mr. Rasputin,

I am very disappointed in your comments. My messages were to promote love and harmony in our little on-line community and perhaps affect others outside it. There was no need for gastronomic preferences or a Tom T. Hall quotation(where in God's green earth did that come from?). We want NO to apologize to Robert Smith and for Lisa to come back to the board. Right, fellers? Right, Iain!!

We had at least one of those albums. The only other song that comes to mind is "Sneaky Snake". If my mom stills has the records and I can find a way to convert it maybe Nick will post it as the song of the month!!

Tom T. Hall website? Why not start one for Hee-Haw? I'm sure that show did a lot for turning disaffected American youth onto Bowie, T-Rex, etc.

I, too, was tortured with forced repeated viewings of those shows as a youngster. Luckily, my dad also had some CCR and Stones records that I found out about and listened to until my musical emancipation arrived a couple of years later.

I thought I might get a reaction from someone by throwing Hee Haw out there!

The evergreen debate, New Order top them all. I do like The Cure and the mode, but New Order is more from the heart, instead of trying hard to sound depressed/cool even when their not as Smithy & Mr Martin Gore have done at times.

Yes, and if you compare their most recent albums New Order stack up very well, with Bloodflowers being a crappy Disintegration parody and Exciter being a bad Martin Gore solo album with David Gahan singing. Get Ready I beleive is New Order's second poorest effort to Republic but I still like it and it they havent attempted to be anything their not and they never have. All top groups, but The Cure and DM arent in the New Order league in my opinion.

My messages were to promote love and harmony in our little on-line community and perhaps affect others outside it. There was no need for gastronomic preferences or a Tom T. Hall quotation(where in God's green earth did that come from?).> > > We want NO to apologize to Robert Smith and for Lisa to come back to the board. Right, fellers? what the fuck are you on?

can i have some?

Liv

Honestly, Liv, I think that it may be Akron, OH water and my boring as fuck all classes. There's a repressed madman in me. Or it's my inner Sunday morning religious fanatic T.V. preacher who gets caught sleeping with little girls screaming to come out.

:love::love: I love you too, Liv :love::love:

P.S. I don't think Lisa is coming back

I am quite scared right now... hmmm help!

Sorry, April, I guess you must have been frightened if it took you a week to post this:) I would suggest some psychotherapy, apparently Shug has set up shop judging from his interpretation of Tab's dream.

But really, I would be more frightened of the Tom T. Hall and Hee Haw references.;)

Good work, Jeff. I'll frighten the ladies and you can console them. But what do I get out of it?

And, I think that Liv is more disgusted by me than frightened. :\ohwell:

Err, drugs, sex, and bad country music tv shows are what's happened to this thread. No animals were hurt while this thread was being compiled but the mental damage done to all of the participants(myself included) may be untold. Film at 11.

I think I falling in , Liv. I hope that someday I get to cross the Atlantic and have the opportunity to share a few gin and tonics. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to keep up, though. At my age it's four G & Ts and bed at eleven. Tonight was a little celebration of getting through our social cognition test, so it's bed at three!

All right, that doesn't make sense to me and I wrote it!! Apparently I was a little tipsy. It's just 'cause I want to be just like Shug!! But I couldn't be arsed to fly to Engerland to vomit on the fair Lady Tattum's doorstep. Next time, I vow!!

And it should be I'm not I falling in. You should have seen the mistakes I did catch
