In a world that's so demanding

I'm unimpressed by the amount of slagging off I'm reading in this forum from neworderophiles who are following the band from one BDO to another expecting the set list will be significantly changed. You just have to accept that as Hooky said at the Sydney BDO after they cocked up something, "too much sailing and not enough of the other stuff". I think he meant rehearsing.

I for one, was more impressed by the Sydney BDO show than the two shows I saw at the Enmore in 1987. Not necessarily for the music but because of the absence of attitude, particularly from Barney. The boys were actually enjoying themselves for the most part, and it really showed.

I went with my heart in my mouth but came away with my faith restored. Oh, and GR is a shit hot triumph of musical brilliance (slow jam aside which more like slow torture).

lachlan, it's hard to accept the change in neworder for some people. their ethics as a band have changed significantly and now they lack that independant spirit that was so endearing back in the day. when we slag neworder, it's with love. the people who are most vocal about the set lists spent most of the 80's watching Neworder live, never knowing what song was coming next. Look at the tours and concerts section to witness this transformation. From 93 until now, NewOrder have more or less played the same set everynight of the tour while every tour before then saw a different set every night (note Manchester 85...2 sets in one day with a few songs overlapping but vastly different compared to Manchester 01 where every song was the same one night to the next). We all love neworder here regardless of whether barney remembers the words to Love Vigilantes or they keep playing the same stale set night in night out. An argument could be made that neworder have betrayed most of what their hardcore fan base loved about them. They are happier together now it seems, and they sound great so all is not lost.
