I'd love to hear Temptation re-released, if only to hear it reproduced with the modern equipment available today. Still we'd all probably cringe at the remixes though once the Dj's got their grubby paws on it :nono:

Ok so its 20 years old, but who cares! its arguably one of their finest ever songs.

What would you like to see re-released?

Decades re-recorded, but with the original vocals.

It's GOT to be "BIzarre Love Triangle" which stiffed the first time it came out cos it was ON THE ALBUM!!

But then, I spose, the best time to have rereleased that one was 1994 when "the Best of" came out - but they turned their attention to the flip of True Faith instead. So, If they went with BLT, a number 21 chart position would still have been a damn sight better than number 56.!!

:cool2:

I think they should do a re-recording album. Re-do some of the songs. Like with ceremony etc. on substance.

  1. True Faith
  2. BLT
  3. 1963
  4. Regret
  5. Blue Monday (rock the shack style version maybe?)

etc etc etc...

I think they should rerecord "Get Ready" all over again. Terrible production that one....

I think they should record new material.

Although if I had to choose one song it would also be Temptation. As Tony Wilson once said its a lost classic.

:nonono: Yer not funny!

If I had to pick one - Temptation (with the added chorus) there were rumours of Temptation 98 - I recall - anyone know why this never happened?

It was never a single, but if one song had to be re-released as a single, I would want to see Doubts Even Here. Maybe the b-side could be Sunrise or Special. The songs kind of fit, don't they? Or all three? Extended and rerecorded? Ah man. Why doesn't anyone like those three songs? They are amazing.

Special and Sunrise both absolute classics mate:nod: Doubts Even Here is good as well - but not too sure about it being a single - prefer Chosen Time or Truth from Movement...IMHO;)

Wouldn't mind seeing "Brotherhood" re-released...my fave LP...but I'm not sure whether or not the muddy sound is compouned by the flimsy US vinyl version that I have.

Listened to some of the songs on a mix tape on a Walkman the other day, and there was a noticeable difference between those songs and the others.

I think that this topic has been covered before about this album, but that was before I started posting regularly.

Definitely, Brotherhood needs to be saved from fatal muddiness by being re-recorded.

Brotherhood my fave NewOrder album, hard to explain exactly why because i rate all their albums so highly, but it just is!!

When i purchased it on CD last year (the re-pressing) i thought it would overcome the 'muddyness' of my original tape version..

Sadly it did not. There has been much discussion about the reasons for the dullness of this recording. A digitally remastered release may be the only solution....

I very much fear that digital remastering won't solve the problem.

I've said it before but I'm completely oblivious to the "muddyness" which apparently blights Brotherhood. My tape sounded fine all them years ago and my CD rocks as well although it appears to be a tad quiet.

Time for on-liners to upgrade their separates perhaps ?

I must confess to not having seperates :( although i have a fairly decent hi-fi with cd multichange and when Brotherhood tracks are arranged next to Republic for example the difference is blatently obvious!

Anyways i seem to remember starting off a "Brotherhood of Mud" thread a while ago which threw up many theories and i believe a listening experiment resulted? so lets not go there in too much detail on this thread!

Back(ish) the the topic, can you really see Barney being arsed to re-record all the lyrics to Brotherhood again?? mefinks not

It would be good if he did though.....Might get As It Is When It Was in tune....which would be nice.

Yea it was a pretty brave/inspired/crazy? (take your pick!) move using the recording of the take with the laughter on that track.

He struggles with the Doo-Doo-Doo-Dooo-Do's as well!!

Oh God...

Maybe they'll start a monthly magazine-style release. Instead of simply Blue Monday 2002, they can release Blue Monday 2/2002, Blue Monday 3/2002, etc.

...Or a weekly set of Blue Monday, Blue Tuesday, and so on, with different color sleeves to match your underwear.

I'd love to see a bunch of the early stuff re-released. Is there a commercial pressing of the original Ceremony 7" on CD? That's what I want.

Well, I think the muddiness of Brotherhood is a big issue. The listening experiment thread seemed to get surprisingly little response.

I always thought Barney sang "I kicked my head against the wall" - and marvel at his sheer acrobatic skill. But then, seeing him last year on tour has knocked that idea on the head!!
