Greetings to all...I am kinda new here, but as I am looking for musicians for some recording collaborations in a similiar vein (but not an exact copy of) New Order and Joy Division, among a few other artists with that sound (Xymox, Smiths, Cure, Section 25...) and having difficulty finding ANYONE in my 12-plus year search, I thought this would be a good place to try. I am NOT trying to do a cover band, nor am I trying to copy New Order's sound exactly...while inspired by this sort of sound, i sort of came up with my own sound shortly before I first heard these bands, and what I do is what I do, so I do not attempt to imitate anyone. I recall how Bernie said in a recent interview that he likes to hear bands that are inspired by New Order and Joy Division, but doesn't really like to hear copies....so he should be pleased with what I do.

I am also working with a friend who was a BMI exec, and is a Nashville and Memphis-based producer who is also a famous author, on this collaboration. I play synth with an atmospheric sound, and have full instrumentals all ready-to-go...just add Bernie-style vocals and some Hooky-style bass. Most of the instrumentals I did are fairly recent, within the last few years. Some of these instrumentals I did hail from a decade or more ago, as I started doing original music as a kid in the mid '80s, but still sound fresh and ahead of their time, so I know that it would fly.

I was due to collaborate with Red Flag on a side-project, but the death of Mark Reynolds put the kibosh on that. (sort of like Joy Division trying to find a new direction, so am I) So, the search goes on.

I live in Ohio, USA, and this area sucks for finding committed artists. Most of the people in my area listen to top-forty, country and rap (gag!) and alot of them never heard of New Order. (even though I play it on my radio shows!) I used to live in American Samoa (south Pacific US territory) and knew a girl who I collaborated with there that could sing well and played acoustic with my synth jamming, but as it was at a time when my first project studio was destroyed by thieves, I never got to record with her, and by the time we got something going, I had to move to Ohio. :dead:

So, after being here for more than ten years, I am STILL looking for musicians to form this band. (I did do an u house track with someone else in 1999, and released it on my own label, but her husband did not want her to return to the music business...seems to be an ongoing situation. I also have a friend who sings and plays guitar, and loves New Order and Joy Division -i turned him onto them, and he ended up buying every JD and NO cd and 12" he could get his hands on!- but his girlfriend who he lives with also does not want hime doing this with me.)

My friend in Memphis has had terrible results trying to find anyone as well, even in that area, even with all his power in the music industry, as it has been five years with him trying also!

So, anyone interested? See my website http://www.taimaui.org/new and http://www.taimaui.org I have linked back to this site also.

You can find out how to contact me from the site. I kindly answer all legit emails as promptly as I can.

Thank you!
