Following on from the favourite tour thread.
Here's what you do. Pick your favourite gig through each of the years New Order have toured, starting in 1980 going through 1993 (excluding 88, 91, 92) and 98, 01, 05. Obviously only those with bootleg collections or long experience following the band can have a go, but fill in whatever years you can. Could be interesting.
I'll have a go at mine a bit later.
1981 Glastonbury
The band was all fucked up. Bernard totally misses all the lyrics after about the fourth song. Great improvization on his part. A mega rendition of EGG to make hippies hate life. In A Lonely Place and the Him are played. veritcal guitar playing pioneered by Barney.
1982 Union Hall, Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand
Great mixture of Movement, early electros--Hurt, Temptaion-- and PC&Ls. Typical equipment snafus with YSF and the new tune Blue Monday. Bernard getting pissy with the punters.
1983 Tower Ballroom Birmingham, UK
LWTUA--listen to the crowd sing the tune before Barney begins the vocals! No wonder they turned this into an anthem and he shouts "COME ON!"
1984 sTUDIO 54 BARCELONA
Perhaps their finest performance ever.

Not a bad song on the list. The first 6 knock me on my ass everytime I hear it. Confusion actually sounded good. Barney's vocals were ace. Of course this gig lives in infamy for the trainwreck of Chosen Time but that just show's the band's human side--they fuck up. The only negative thing I can say about this gig is that they did not debut any new songs.

Some tough choices to make there! In 82 I could easily have gone for the Athens Arena Greece or Paris in November, In 83 there is a favourite boot of the Paradise Garage in New York, 85 could have been the WOMAD Festival, Melbourne Powerhouse or the first show at the Hac in December, 87 could have been Woolwich Coronet, Brixton Academy or Wembley Arena, 89 there were a few good US soundboards, 98 could easily have been Reading as well to complete the hat-trick and this year there were several choices to pick, espescially as E/G/G was re-introduced.

Tim 1993 Dublin. Have never heard a recording of this but from what I remember it was pretty shambolic. Then again so was I.
Mike 1989 NEC. Surely you meant SECC? Still went with Reading though.

Twas one of the first boots I ever bought, I can remember going round Baldrick's to dog school (we were 14 or 15 )
Can remember Barney giving it banter through the show and something about "Are there any Man U fans here" taunting the cockneys. Oh, and a fookin brilliant BLT.

Exactly, my sentiments also. First away fixture aswell. Never forget the stampede from the upstairs bar when we heard the opening strains of Regret. We all thought they were on last after Hothouse Flowers. Terrible gig though, short and not so sweet.

I believe this gig was weeded over a year ago. Haven't got a copy myself either, will have to ressurect the thread.

not really - i figured you'd just googled a single or something so never believed you, but as have this live set thought i'd see if by some weird chance you had expanded your musical horizons & weren't arsing about!
