Trying to design them badges was funny as fuck - there were a flurry of emails between several of us trying to decide whether they looked too gay or not, that lasted for a good few days

I will text Al now :thumb:

What did Hooky say about half an hour ago? he was going out for a sanwich or he had finished his participation in the show?

And Steve wants a following called Steve's Quiet Life.

Funny bastards the pair of them.

And LOL at those French Angels.....go girls.

Hooky's Devils? WTF...Hooky's idea, or did Karine feel sorry for him.

surely that's just NOOLers 3-non noolers 0

?

Besides if you DO want to get picky...the vikings got an exclusive performance dedicated to them of their very own theme song, so they are clear winners.

French chicks rock though :D

Damn, I missed it. Went on a long walk.

The implication being that Vikings are NOOLers? Not really the case, you don't have to post on NOOL to be a Viking. You just have to do New Order gigs.

Don't be picky matey, you know exactly what I meant :D

Nutters 3 - Rest of the world 0

better? :D (don't u dare start defending Viking sanity ;) )

EDIT: actually in fairness since the names mentioned were your good self and les jeunes filles francais (as I reach back 20 years to highschool for that)...my statement stands quite well. Oh and there are non NOOL Angels too. And Viking Angels and so on :)

He liked Karine's avatar, thats all!

You can listen to it all on the 6 Music website. Some amusing bits, and some great tunes as well. Paul Haig's version of Atmosphere was excellent, and there was some really good Japanese house as well. Enjoyed the Circus Girls tracks too.

That Japanese track was fecking classic, so was the French D+B/Ska :D

that version of atmos was good, but, i'm not sure the curtis-esque vocal really sat with that arrangement quite as well as something lighter, even female, would have.

Is said Haig cover available elsewhere?

I rather got the impression it was an "under the counter" job.

can always nick it off webcast if you can stomach the quality

I recorded the whole thing off my digibox which is better quality than the webstream, can always extract said track if you're interested. Can't find any listing anywhere of an official release of it. Mind you, can't find much about Paul Haig full stop on t'internet.

There's a Paul Haig website here- he used to release stuff via Les Disques Du Crepescule (some/all? have been reissued via LTM), and Barney/Donald Johnson produced his track "The Only Truth" (available on the compilation "Cool As Ice").

Anyway, can't find a release of "Atmosphere", so either it's due out shortly, or it'll remain unreleased! :)

Just finished listening to it - over two days.

Forgot how entertaining Steve can be.

Great to hear the Vikings hello. Although now the term 'Barney's Angels' has been planted in Hooky's mind it may surface again in the future.

Oh that's bad. :P Mind I'm still waiting for badges. From both factions.

I still think a Matilda Heavy would be a great tank to silhouette as a badge image for a Steve group. At the very least a Churchill VII. Stout tanks.

Like this one here, only not a figurine.

What does everyone think of the music they played? Don't know if it was their selections or what but it was good anyway. Gillians choice was v good, as was Mrs Hookys.

After listening I went out and bought

  • The Life Pursuit by Belle and Sebastian (for Sukie in the Graveyard)
  • Ballyhoo by Echo and the Bunnymen (for Silver)

and Depeche Mode just cos I wanted it.

Wasn't keen on the house music they played. Quite like WAS - Nobody move, nobody get hurt. I also like Daft Punk is playing etc but they didn't seem too keen on it. The 2nd last track by Pulp was crap.

thank you for the find! I'm listening to the archived broadcast right now!

Hi can you post your review of "the life pursuit please ? I only know the wonderful song "another sunny day" ! I bought "siberia" from Echo&the bunnymen and just discovered "What are you going to do with your life" (Echo&the bunnymen 1999) both of them are pretty good !

I love the Life Persuit. The tracks are great - including such gems as Sukie in the Graveyard, We are the Sleepyheads and heaps more. It's very bouncy and enjoyable, a very 'up' record. I'd thoroughly recommend it to everyone as an investment and a very good record as a whole with no album filler tracks. Buy it and you won't regret it.

Still lovin echo and the bunnymens Silver.

The show is now gone from the website unfortunatly - went back to listen to the rest and it was gone.:(
