The PVD remixes of Spooky are on the Z CD single.

24 Hours followed by the solo in Crystal

only off the top of my head.

Always thought the one at the end of Fine Time was one of his catchiest.

The closing bass line in the extended mix of BLT, where Hooky´s bass is upfront in the mix.

Age Of Fuckin Consent. Obviously...

Hooky's best are the simplest ones

Transmission 24 Hours Ceremony Age of Consent

I'll limit to those four, been going chronological order but the list could easily get too long.

Broken Promise Subculture Transmission Ceremony

the end of BLT (brotherhood) she's lost control let's go ceremony

There are two UK cd singles of Spooky, the first had the Fluke mixes on it,and the second which opened like a Z had the PVD remixes, and a dub mix called "Boo!".

Check the discography.

Definately. You have to add at least $10 to your account but there are loads of great finds on there and at terrific quality too. I recommend it.

The bassline in "Perfect Kiss" has been a long standing favorite of mine. Love it!!

thought someone would be clever and say What do you want from me? Leave Me Alone or Love Vigilantes live anywhere in the 80`s

The last ten seconds of Happy Jack by Monaco there's a brilliant little riff

Did the bass lines vary live in the latter two?

Put the pipe down guys, the best Hooky bassline is 3 minutes into 'Round & Round' (Extended Version) where Hooky goes off, just him and the drum machine.

I guess on this website there are 2 distinct factions: the ones that prefer the dance songs and the ones that prefer the rock songs.

Er, not really

What's this extended version you speak of, and where can it be found?

Someone else (or two) said "Waiting for the Sirens' Call" and the end of "Bizarre Love Triangle," and I have to agree.

Also, "Temptation"'s is rather simple and not show-off-y, but I find it really catchy.

And then there's "Junk" by Monaco--that central melody Hook plays is great and well-timed, as is his big far-upper-end-of-the-bass finale.

In Temptation '87, the bass riff for the bridge harmonizes really well with the guitar.

It's the regular 6:50 extended version of Round & Round. It's on the CD Single and 12", man.

It has a great groove.

Thanks, found it

Just listening to that Extended R&R. I've always felt the bass in the Technique version is buried far too low in the mix. Cheers MTO.

Spooky!! Argh that track's got the best everything ever! Hooky's bass is super as always.

As someone else said, the simplest ones are best.

The intro to EGG where the bass chimes repeatedly like a sinister church bell

The Village - Hooky par-excellence

The outro to Blue Monday

Temptation - simple but sublime

Oh yes, I would go on to say that this is the outstanding bit of Hooky brilliance from start to finish on 'Round And Round' whatever the mix.

My all time favourite has to be from 'Turn' (Album Version , not the one on 'Singles') (3:24 - 3:55)

Honourable mentions to TPK and Crystal

She's Lost Control in my opinion.

Sweet Lips is unlike any of Hooky's other basslines and sounds nice and funky

No mention of Let's Go until now?, if you have a video or an audio of the Leuven 85 gig, give it a listen.

Has to be either Transmission or Ceremony :bass:

sorry i realised i made a big mistake on the initial post i meant the Magimix of Spooky

of course,Leave me alone varied from Love Vigilantes and vice versa. oh,righty ho get ya.On all my bootlegs, the Love Vigilantes bassline seems higher in the mix than the Low Life cut where the melodica covers the genius. I only meant LV live, not LMA.

If he's on it,then it's fuckin'brilliant, wotever it is.There's quite simply nothing else that sounds like it,& I mean the 'SOUND'! Someone wrote in an article a long time ago,'when it comes in'it's like a light aeroplane crashing into your front room'.& if the end of '1963' doesn't send you into orbit, then you're dead. But,because there is absolutely nothing else as original & it always gets me 'up',it has to be 'Age of Consent'.I thank you..... :thumb:
