From today's Daily Record :

A New Order In Town

Synth-Pop pioneers New Order are heading to Scotland as part of a UK tour. The Manchester group led by Bernard Sumner will play Glasgow’s Carling Academy in the autumn. The last time the band played north of the border was at last year’s T In The Park – when their set was one of the highlights of the Balado weekend. They were joined on stage by devoted fan and frontman of The Killers, Brandon Flowers who sang Crystal.

Geoff Ellis, CEO of promoters DF Concerts, was responsible for New Order’s festival show, their gig on October 18 and he is a huge fan. He said “They were the first band I ever tried to book back when I was at Middlesex Polytechnic, although I failed miserably. Joy Division were my favourite and when they became New Order I had my musical awakening, it inspired me to get into promotions. They’ve not played very often in Scotland – I got them up to the Barrowland three years ago and T In The Park, but prior to that, they didn’t really play here. I remember when I first booked them I told the agent ‘This is the most exciting day of my career.’ I think that’s why he came to me this time. They are a brilliant band who were instrumental in inventing modern dance music, a catalyst for a change in perception of Dance – way ahead of their time. I know this will be a brilliant concert.”

Tickets for the October 18 gig go on sale this Friday, May 26 at 9am. Call Tiketmaster Scotland on 0870 1690100 or log onto www.gigsinscotland.com

Wise words... good to see some 'pro-active' press!

Top man is Geoff Ellis. There were a few interviews in the Scottish press last year on the lead up to T which showed just how much of a fan he is. I just hope I can get a ticket when we get back from Spain, Glasgow's Academy only holds around the 1800 mark, so it'd be very similar in size to the Olympia in Liverpool which was a fookin great day out.
