What was your top New order Gig ever?

Hoping Blackpool will be Looking forward to what some of the ardcore gig goers say here.... From my limited experience it would be the Move2002 cricket ground show! Delighted they played YSF as encore ....but no Ceremony Top fully fuelled weekend that one

Brixton! Opening with Ceremony and the place going mental!

Probably be Barca 05 for me.

I love every New Order gig I go to, but that one stood out from the ones I went to last year.

The crowd was fucking great!!

Plus, I got to say hello to Iggy Pop

EGG, followed by the best version of BM i've ever come across, & I was stood just below Hooky for the whole gig.

Then being able to wander across O'Connell Bridge the next day & pick up the tape of the gig

Shit this is tough, there's been so many!

Birmingham 86 was my all-time favourite for a good many years, wonderful performance and a really excellent night, topped by a crystal clear recording!

More recently, Paris Zenith 02 was special, first NO gig with the wife, and Brixton and the Apollo last year were just a great craic, so many people together beforehand, and we weren't disappointed by the performances either.

Birmingham 86 was fabtastic! It was my first gig but sadly i had to leave half way through:\ohwell:

Reading 98 was great.After 5 long years it was awesome to see em again!

Brixton last year was pretty good. But i think i'll go for Sheffield Roxy 87 as my best ever

gmex 88 - fantastic support and dream attack - not much beats it. However- of the recent concerts- Move 2002 was pretty good

Chicago 2005 was my first gig, and it was top Hopefully it won't be my last!

Rotters in Doncaster 1985, My 2nd gig, (the 1st being Portsmouth the previous year) but my first right up at the front.

NO :Reading 1981. Blistering Movement set, anti-student rant from Barney, encore with SXXV and a punch-up on the way home. Perfect.

JD : Leeds Univ 1979 on the Buzzcocks tour. Knew they were special before, but this one was......beyond.

Some great gigs already mentioned, brixton and Sheffield 87,reading 98. i have a soft spot for the festival of the tenth summer (if only for mac on ceremony) and sheffield octagon for the first four songs and the only time I saw them play denial. Probably agree with a previous poster though, Sheffield Roxy.

NEC 89 (for my first gig), although Peely tribute night was pretty special (in the moshpit)! :)

Both Brixton and Manc last year were also very good - got the bug to go to (most) of their gigs this year...

Loved the Apollo gig last November but i was seated, so Move 2002 is mine so far.

What a great day, I caught all the soundcheck. The venue was great, although seated, but the Gig WOW!

Face Up still sends shivers down my spine, it's like a monster Hooky is trying to control, and HURT awesome, Thieves - ace, and Cock like the 1 - funny and Decades , still probably the boot I play the most.

Only done 2 gigs..but both were a different experience to the other, even though they were both outdoors and I was with the same crowd of lads an lasses both times.One in Manchester,one in London. Both great and we were all shitfaced all weekend so doubly agreeable it has to be said...

This October I'm really looking forward to an indoor venue at Blackpool,but might have to curb the largin,cos I'm takin the family and staying on, as a makeweight to her indoors if I'm honest...Whatever possesed me to do that?when I know for sure I will be wanting a 2 day proper sesh in Blackpool as mooted by the Redcar Order,who are now making noises about going?? Blackpool will be my first N.O. gig, I've always tended to stick to watching lesser known bands in smaller venues that way you feel more of a part of it... The fact that I'll be able to meet up and have a drink with some of you lot makes it feel more like a great night out than just 'going to see a show' Gonna stay over in Blackpool too. Means I can get sozzled and not worry about travelling home. Should be a great couple of days

Brixton last November for me, superb gig. Finsbury park 2002 is also a bit special for me though because it was my first time seeing New Order live.

I'm sure you'll have a ball at your first gig Empress ballroom looks a good venue on my Stone Roses DVD,and on the internet tour.Think it holds about 3000.So not too big,good all round views,and as intimate a venue as could be realistically expect...Tho I like 500 max capacity shows as much as the next man

Having only been to 2 gigs, last year´s Hammerstein Ballroom was a thrill and I loved every minute of it -Highlight meeting other NO fans at the TGI Friday´s. The other being Roskilde festival 1993, good but nothing outstanding.

my first gig was great (as are most first gigs from your favourite bands); that was red rocks in 1989. i also enjoyed the 2001 show in glasgow, as it was my ex's first NO gig and he was excited. they didn't disappoint.

Oakland 85 was great, comatose audience notwithstanding. Great setlist, plus Sister Ray as an encore.

Ive been far and wide just like most of you here.But i think the best for me as a whole night was Hydye Park 2005. As you all know it was pissing down and i think we all felt as though we were going to have a shit night ? Then every thing came in to place ! I had such a good time in the pub before hand meeteing a few of you lot,then the rain stopped ! I would say that New Order were not at there best but it was just a great fucking night.I was with the right friends and we were in the centre but about thirty rows back.And all around us the people were buzzing and having a very good time. I was well away from the mosh pit for a change,but i really did enjoy the night with the people around us. :)

Toss up between Finsbury Park '87 or G-Mex '88.

1989 Jones Beach. Long Island. Only damn show I saw - too poor when they were touring the states regularly and now they don't tour anymore (last year was way too f-ing short to be a tour). Awesome set loaded with Technique stuff. WEent with a friend who was a big Twsited Sister fan, and even he was impressed. PIL and Sugarcubes opened too.

Generally I'm not a gig person; hence only seen NO three times in 20 years of fandom!

The best would have to be Finsbury Park;

Highlights for me were;

'Digital' & 'Brutal'

and NO stopping the rain on cue!

Oh... It's Finsbury 2002 I'm talking about as well.. as I think they've played there more than once!

The crowd-band banter was on top form and NO looked to be really revelling in the moment.

Looking forward to Summer Pops (last UK NO gig as off to KiwiLand) and hoping to see NO sometime in the future (which i'm sure will be their last time) in NZ???

Seeing a few people mention Reading 98, did anyone by any chance go and see spiritualized (in a huge tent nme stage or summat!) afterwards, I thought they were amazing! I was a bit fucked though!

the best one was Manchester Apollo in oct 2001. Temptation at MEN Arena was mental Manchester Apollo Nov 2005 was most excellent but spoilt by lack of keyboards Move at Old Trafford 2002 was good - touching tribute to the late John Entwhistle by Hooky GMEX in 1988 was the first and set the scene nicely for the summer of love that was to come.

yep - did both of these (although technically the Miners ben. was actually next door in the RFH) - CLP still tops it for me 10 song set of perfection, and the best ever starting trio - Atmosphere, DNE, & Procession - brilliant atmosphere - compact and heaving. It was actually a benefit for Terence Higgins - hence Barneys quip about doing a suffocation benefit next time!!

Hammerstein Ballroom May 2005: Got there late, got yelled at by audience members for being too tall, my nutty ex-girlfriend flipped out, couldn't afford beer, got my moshed by most of you fuckers, no Ceremony despite repeated shouts for it, no YSF, too much Blue Monday and fog machine in my face.

The next time I see them can only be better so I'll count that. Whenever it happens.

Bit worried about the "Barney Whoop-ometer" scale, though.

If enjoyment of a gig varies with the band's "we're having fun" factor as measured by the number of "whoops" from Barney, is it necessarily a bad gig if he doesn't "whoop"?

If so, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy myself anyway - unless one of you finds out where I'm sitting and starts asking where my zimmer frame is - but I may be in trouble with my lady friend if the gig is completely "whoop-less".:(

Oakland '05. The Chemical Brothers were great and New Order were that much better.

my fave was at the Brixton Academy last year. so much better on the Hyde Park gig

Absolutely awesome, the whole crowd were bouncing up and down, atmosphere was amazing. It was the first NO gig I'd been to where they played mostly singles and crowd favourites as opposed to what tracks they wanted to do! Your Silent Face what a classic! The gig where my girlfriend finally realised what my obsession was all about
