Now then cats, managed to get tickets for Manc. land. Anyone know what 'Unreserved Standing' means at the Apollo - I booked 'standing' and it came back as this.
They were advertising 'Standing in stalls' - what the fuck is that?

Apollo's all standing downstairs. Means you can shove in wherever you want, basically.
I remember it got so hot in there for the comeback 3 years ago that my then girlfriend collapsed by the mixing desk from heat exhaustion, some 20 metres back from the 'front'!

I had another mate who threw up down the front during Ceremony cos we'd been on the sauce all day and Ceremony is, well, a bit of a lively number, and security tried to manhandle him out but he fought them off and pegged it into the middle again! Imagine that, someone trying to chuck you out MID gig! Sacrilege!
Andy - tried to get tickets for Friday but all sold out by the time I'd got back on Monday night from a quick trip to the Lakes. Good timing eh!? - Managed to grab 2 tickets for the Thursday night in the mosh pit at the Apollo. A mate of mine is still trying for Brixton Academy, he lives near there so I'm hoping to get to that one. I'm taking my dad (he's and Order fan) on Thursday but the Friday was meant to be a mate to piss up ratio evening.
On the night 'll stick a bright yellow blazer on with a novelty plastic flower in the breast pocket - stick a massive bowler hat on with 'Huntsman is here' - so look out for me, I'll buy you that beverage.
Probably have to fly direct from work to the gig. - I'm like, erm, the boss of the place so I can't get off early... unless I say I've grazed my knee.
Allen - sounds like a decent gig your x-bird experienced. Do you want me to stick a needle in her teeth next time I see her?

I thought the tickets might turn up today but no sign as yet. I think it was something like £4.50 for p&p. For that, I'm expecting Tony Wilson to deliver them by hand.
Hunstman - was I right about Primitive Notion and Someone Like You? I'm suprised you think Slow Jam is quality though - I just can't get into it. Rock The Shack is like something Warsaw (or Stiff Kittens!) would've done but why the hell that reviewer said it was like Unknown Pleasures I'll never know.
Talking of Slow Jam - what are they on about? 'Down in the Tubestation at Midnight' and 'Strange Town' didn't dip below 130bpm surely.
Andy - your right pal, give me some breathing space I've just got the bastard so I'm still struggling on song names. Slow Jam is definately the worst of the songs, sounds more like Electronic than any NO ever in entire catalogue. I still don't think its totally shite, just a bit below par for this album. Sos for scaring you on that one - no, I haven't lost any taste.
Fuck it, I never doubted you, Someone Like You and Primitve Notion are exceptional New Order tracks. Couldn't here Primitive Notion at first, but as Brotherhood, it kind of sneaks up and goes past a lot of the other album stuff.
On reflection, I'd have to say that Turn My Way makes me thankful I'm alive in the world, Crystal is still excellent - Primitive Notion/Someone Like You and Run Wild are untrue. I hate to say it, but fucking Rock the Bastard Shack is growing on me. I feel a bit like a piece of turd slagging it so much but you know how it is when your very close to the Order - you think its your own family.
All in all Andy, I'm now thinking Get Ready is beating Low-Life/Technique and Brotherhood as the best album - hey don't laugh, put any of these albums on and you'll be wanting GR on the deck pretty fucking swift. So happy this albums so good - how worried were you?
Huntsman, one thing I don't understand is how anyone could NOT think TMW is far and away the best thing on the album. Not to put down any of the rest, of course.
Pat - TMW IS my favourite. Don't panic, I repeat, it IS my favourite. That said, the others mentioned previously are a very close second and they are all on a superb quality level. Close Range is second, followed by Primitive Notion and Someone Like You. Crystal and others follow behind, by a cats whisker... and that's a thin cat.
Patty, I did say that I thought TMW made me thankful I'm alive in the world (couple of posts up) - not wanting to labour the point.
Huntsman, I perfectly understood that YOU appreciated TMW at its true worth; that's why I was addressing the comment to you. I was referring to OTHER people, for example some under the "Rate your Get Ready songs" thread. I also like it that you put Close Range so high; CR really is superb.
In that thread, four of seven who give a list do NOT put TMW at the top; three have it at #5 and one has it at #7.
i had TMW at 7 because i fucking HATE billy corgan and the smashing pumpkins. you don't live in hell (america) with little shits wanting to be little pumpkins. the song is nice but does it need billy corgan? get ready is excellent on the whole but the guests on this album coupled with the marketing (5 or 6 'different' crystal singles, bonus tracks etc) make get ready a little shameless too. bobby gillespie ran out of good things to say in the early 90's. if not for weatherall's production on Screamadelica, Gillespie would be smoking crack with Evan Dando somewhere in the middle of america. Echo Dek was better than vanishing point because gillespie was mixed out primarily. New Order have never needed and still do not need guests to help their compositions and that includes producers...

TMW is the best song on this album. I know how the US kids must hate the bloke Corkscrew but to me, I don't know much about him so its palatable to hear an 'alien force' on the album, quite like it actually... but not all the time.
If Robbie Williams was on the album, I might not be so agreeable.
Thanks, Huntsman. Billy Corgan doesn't really occupy a very large place in my consciousness either. I have a vague impression he may be an egomaniac, but I'm not even really sure what that's based on. I do think his voice works quite well on TMW.
Yes, I agree - and that's why it works. I think including these 2 on this album was an extremely cute marketing tool, and as such, has worked - as the kids from the States identify with him and at the end of the day some kids may buy the album on this basis.
Important factor here is that NO have masked the 'guest' vocalists with FX and placing them quite low in the mix. Very, very smart move.

As I believe others have also said, I think TMW could be very big in the U.S., partly because of BC.

As I don't know much of the boy they call Corkscrew I don't know if he was in it, but I'm sure he was as the whole band was there. Nothing beats the episode with Stephen Hawking in it, but that's another story.

Turn My Way would be nice if they had muti-tracked barney's voice and left the bald fucker off the album. just because he kisses some ass at a concert and had actually listened to joy division, billy corgan gets to play with new order. his vioce is terrible. high pitched shrill. Turn My Way SUCKED live. If they drop it now they can add some quality songs. I do like Turn My Way but not Corgan's contribution.
Mr Corgan really is a figure of hate in the US aint he? He is a bit of a twat, but I do quite like his intro to TMW-maybe no need for the harmonies though. Still a cracking song. Right up there with the best of NO
