I can't seem to get on Dimeadozen, and I cannot download the version of the Liverpoll show that Spotnic put up.
Can anyone send me an MP3 or make a CD or post an mp3 of the new version of TPK?
Can anyone at least tell me what the new version of TPK sounds like?

Its nothing special....short intro and the 'when you are alone at night...' verse missing. Bass wasn't high enough in the mix too, imho.

That sounded pretty good, and it was awesome to hear the corwd singing along to the song...
But since the band went thru the trouble of reprogramming the song...
WHy on earth did the leave out the "Kiss of Death" verse..and why the hell did they leave out the part on after the last verse where hooky bangs on the drum pads while Steve plays the mean Synth bass line...
Those are the two best parts of the song!
Not to be a negative nelly or anything, as I'm pleased as punch that TPK is back in the setlist, but it sounds pretty darn lightweight compared to the older version. More like dancable lounge music (Electronic, anyone?) than the orchestral glory of the earlier incarnation. Of course, I wasn't there, so it's damn hard to tell anything definite from a bootleg. The missing last verse is the best part too, and where's that tasty hard synth coming out of the quiet frog part? Hmmm.... Nevertheless, I still think I'll probably plotz if I ever get to hear it live (fingers crossed).
To be honest it didn't blow me away when i heard and saw it live at Liverpool last week.
The recording is pretty much how i remember it at the gig.The old 80s performances of it are way better.

You whinged and whinged for it to be back in the set, then when it's put in, you're not happy.
Well I thought it was pretty lightweight too. Did they shorten it due to time constraints? Its not as though there's only 80 mins on a cd available and they're trying to squeeze it in on that and leave space for other songs.
Sure its nice that its back but nicer if it was back in all its former glory.

I'd rather get a 1993 version of TPK than no TPK at all. They've obviously made some sort of effort to please us guys, so i think a little appreciation wouldn't go to far amiss

Maybe they were getting bored with the normal setlist or they needed a 'breather' song where none of them plays too much for a few minutes.
I appreciate them wheeling it out again but 'radio edits' are meant for the radio...? Thats just my personal opinion, obviously...
And they didn't even change the lyrics with Rocket Mick in attendance.

I've enjoyed Bernard's guitar playing on both available live versions from '06. Nice throaty vocal on some of the lyrics too.

Perfect Kiss in the live sets now is better than no Perfect Kiss since 1993...
If you want to hear a longer version, then listen to some live recordings (or the video on "Item")...

Summercase Madrid was also this TPK2/3 version of the tune. Doesn't make much sense after all of the programming. Still incredible to have it back in the set list.

Here's a TPK from 1985 at Hemel Hempstead - not the best recording but bass where it should be as lead guitar and frogs too! Just on ten minutes with all the intro thumb twiddling....
Hemel Hempstead was an excellent gig, if only for the very first airing of Bizarre love Triangle. I believe the Pavilion in Hemel Hempstead is now no more.

Wish they played TPK in NYC. This is a great updated version. Re-releasing this "laid-back" version would be tops!

My only beef with the new version is the choice of patches they made. The part and bass, both voyetra on the original I think, sound really limp and sloppy and flappy, not at all the ultra-tight noises they were. I suppose Mr Lyons is to blame rather than the band, surely he should have realised that the program used on any given synth is vital to a tune like this, especially since his re-work of BM was designed specifically to capture the original recorded version as the NO live versions were played on a different rig for years.

Why not cut out the middle hand and do it yourself? I doubt she'd have had as much practice, after all! :D :D :D
And yes, the new version is two semitones lower than the original. Wonder how that throws off that crazy mad run Hooky does at the end. LWTUA, OTOH, is up two...I heard something about them changing the keys of some songs mid-career to better fit Barney's range, so that's not so strange, but oddly, the live version of Crystal is a half-step off too... 
I'm with you, Jeff, also hoping for (A) another US visit soon and (B) that I can get over there in time to catch them live with the home crowd at least once before they bugger off to the big Pernod bar in the sky.

Weird... I wonder if the sequencers were flaky or if there was trouble with the taping or what, but the drum/sequencer bits seem a bit off... like they were played live, though they're obviously not.
Otherwise, though, this sounds fantastic. Flawless performance by all and everything in its right place and sounding great together.
