Oh, this is the best remix of ALL time. I absolutly love it. It takes such a different angle to the track and it works so well. I was very very impressed and play it all the time.

Think most people on here know what it sounds like! I do like it myself,its actually quite dancey-i always thought most of the remix stuff would sink if it was played in a club,but this would be ok.

well that remix was on there last night.and mikey also played a joy division remix too, last night as well. i dont know who done that remix (joy division) , it wasnt as spectacular as the No remix, it was 'love will tear us apart'. but you cant get a copy of them from here . i was just saying for the new zealand fella to tune in cause hes a nz dude and there is alot of nz music played. sorry again i dont have a copy myself ,,,im going to get a fucking copy though, ive heard it played heaps on the radio by 'mikey havoc' ,, i might get my best friend to help me find it . then i will be set. yeeeha

Can't say i'm a big fan of remixes to be honest...the only one i've taken a liken to is the Arthur Baker 1963, and some of the True Faith ones like the Pink Noise Morel ones...

I'm usually not either. They're usually just lengthened, diluted versions of the originals. However, occasionally a remix totally changes a song, in a worthwhile way. I think the pump panel deconstruction remix of Confusion is a good example. It is almost a totally new song. I think the original is great, and the remix, in its own right. If the remix is gonna sound just like the original, then why bother? Some of the stuff I've heard on this thread makes it sound like it is suficiently different from the oringal (different and good, that is) that it is worth a listen.

Sometimes the remixes are done to the song fit better on the dancefloor. Like when the original track is great, but it has only 2 minutes long, there are vocals in the first 3 seconds, etc. Then you get a remix that sounds similar to original, but with a more apropriate bpm, a nice intro/ending, and so on. I agree most of the remixes are not good to listen "at home".

For me, if the remix is done what I consider right and does not completely change the song into something new, and still have parts of the original song then there is a very good chance that I will like the remix.

I have been searching for remixes for a friend and some of the remixes that I have found, are so different from the song that they were based off of, that at least for me, it was hard to listen to them or like since the songs were so different from what I was expecting.

Now I do like where they take parts of various songs and will mix them up, so they what I like to call “flow well” together with a good beat, like the Respect mix of DM, Erasure and NO.

I've found it on an American compilation cd called 'Ultra Electro',only on import here to Blighty,some other good tracks on cd1 too.Is Soulseek the only place I can get a download copy of it? With the vast majority of the songs it's the 'if it ain't broke, why fix it' attitude i have towards them, but with a song like Jetstream, i can see why remixes are worth checking out. Then again, i don't like some of the remixes where it seems like only a very small section of a song has been used to create the remix.

Meh i guess like someone else said, a lot of the remixes arn't exactly ones you're supposed to listen to at home!

Can't say I like Jetstream much but I sure do like Jacques Lu Cont's dub mix of it.

I agree with much of what Spotnik says but I also agree with your 'if it ain't broke, why fix it' attitude. I think that while what Spotnik says is true that remixes can add something new to a song, they fall flat the vast majority of the time. A good example of the converse of your statment ('if it is broke, then please do try to fix it') that I can think of is the Four Non-Blondes song "what's up". I fucking hated that song! One of the worst songs ever! Then I heard a dance remix of it and, while not great, was good enough that I could listen to it. Same thing as your example with Jetstream (though I don't hate Jetstream the way most others do-other than the lyrics).

tooo technical tooo technical, for me electronic music is so dam personal, i woulnd't like to go to a club, i hate that superficial shite, people on drugs bla bla, i do like big concerts where there a sense of oneness with the crowd, thats when our concioussness comes together and we raise our conciousness, we feel as one, conciously or not. do you feel like that? we are all made of the same energentic matter, but ususualy i feel lost in a crowd. i feel like that remix especially reminds me of the humbleness and uniqueness of being human thats what bernard sumners lyrics do for me every time , and i feel what this age is about ,,love , love seems to weave the universe together, its our virtue ..aye? new orders music brings my brain into syncronicity into an alpha healing state, i see vivid colours like (green and purple), i feel my infinate path, my higher triad of concioussness my soul task-even. this is why i looove new order and electronic music. music heals

Just listened to the mix for the first time and WOW! What a great remix, very very calming kinda breezy summer feel for me :)

WHO CARES!! it is human experience thats in the lyrical. and i can relate to the lot. i know that drugs can damage the way the human energy field functions by forcing burning the webs between the higher and lower levels of the aura and the chakras, there is alot of instant but temporary freedom and liberation in taking drugs, an escape. I played the Public Enemy version of "Fuck the Police" last time I was on Active and got an outraged call from a listener who was "trying to eat his lunch". My co-host later taunted him saying she hoped there was no pork in his meal. Stomach churning I'm sure.

There are some songs I find a whole lot more interesting on remix, eg. 60 mph (Supermen Lovers), Crystal Lee Coombs, Someone Like You Funk d'Void, Jetstream Tom Neville, or Jacques lu cont, Comfusion pump panel... I love BLT Armand van helden, although it could never replace the original, but you would hardly guess the original without the lyric "everytime I see you falling". Always preferred the b side of World in Motion anyways...

i avoid listening to 1963-94 from Best of...

The Wally Jagel Tribute Mix of WFTSC is better than the Planet Funk Remix.

Everythime I play that 10" Tribute Mix, I get so many comments, I'm almost afraid to play it next time like someone's gonna steal it from me.

Pink Noise Krafty, for me, is much more listenable than the album version.....nonetheless, Rich Morel used the important elements of the original to create his Pink Noise house version....a house masterpiece to be sure. It couldnt have existed without the original, but it's truly apples and oranges...there's no point in comparing- that would be inane.

The Planet Funk WFTSC was so exciting for me.....the other remixes that came out prior SUCKED, and this one was beautiful, original and plays magnificently in clubs.
