Sunrise Instrumental - Am I dreaming?

I can remember a topic here ages ago discussing various NO tracks that have been played over old videos (usually footie goals) but I need some clarity. I can distinctly remember a goals compilation video with an instrumental full rendition of Sunrise playing over the action.

The first time I heard Low-life years ago it was the first thing I noticed - "i remember that tune!". The question is, did I dream it? or can anyone out there back me up on this and help end the sleepless nights..

I do believe there is one. I've only seen it on the NO discography on some cassette tape from a magazine or something:confused2:

It comes from the Discreet Campaign album.

It's called "Instrumental Rough Mix"

For some reason I need to find it's not showing up in the discography here, so take a peek here

It dates from Dec 84, and is rather good. Different version to the one that ended up on Low Life.

A live instrumental of Sunrise? All the early versions had some form of words that I know of, can't think of an instrumental live version. Unless it's the Spain 84 show that never surfaced that you've got?!

Surely we can all convince young Jack to slowly infiltrate Hooky's vault?

Come on, Jack! I want to see you in grease paint and camo gear. Crack out the blowtorch and get in there!

Something like this... ...but without being a complete whacko.

Does anyone remember a Love Vigilantes Instrumental being used for the World Cup (1986?), presumably on TV coverage etc?

Yep, though I thought it was a splice job the BBC had done, rather than a bonafide instrumental version. They've also used an instrumental of Regret for footy, as did ITV in 1993.

well it almost is the album version.

It's a work in progress mix that they decided to give to Rorschach Testing.

It sounds basically like the sibling of fellow instrumental Let's Go.

I remember about a year before Low Life came out buying the first issue of Debut Magazine, which was LP sized and you could send off for a vinyl compilation LP (which, of course, I never did). The LP had Sunrise on it-was that the instrumental, or different to the Low Life version?

The version on "Debut Magazine" was just an edit, the only version of the instrumental was on "Discreet Campaigns" (the subject of the megaupload).

that edit is unique to that release isn't it?

Wasn't this also distributed as part of the 4 disc "International 2" project a couple of years ago?

I'm sure that's where my copy came from.

Top tune!

I was actually planning to play that one on next week's (not this weekend) podcast, but I guess it won't be a huge surprise anymore. ;) Oh well.

Everything's Gone Grey (for those interested in the show.)

It was, and I supplied the .wav to 'negative1' when he was compiling it. Not sure what "mastering" he did to the track though - coz it sounds weak and fuzzy on that comp, not at all like the file I sent him.
