searching through the forum - Candiate Alternative Mix

Good afternoon,

I really didn't want to ask something that has probably already been asked many times on here, but as I didn't know how to search through back topics on the forum (if there is a way to do it at all), I thought I'd ask.

I have an echo-heavy version of Candidate, but i don't know if this was really done by JD/Hannett, of if it's just been done by somebody else much later on.

Does anybody have any views as to its authenticity?

If anyone can tell me a good way to search the forum, I'd appreciate that too. I tried, but all I got was info on "Candidate"'s profile!

Both "alternative mixes" of Candidate and new Dawn Fades are blatantly fake. Someone just put some cheap echo effect on both tracks and put 'em on some crappy bootleg.

you can tell they're fake because every note and sound is exactly the same as the released versions. A real Hannett rough mix would have some differences.

The only difference is the reverby/doubling effect that's been applied to the released mixes.

There are people who believe they are fake and people who believe they aren't but so far there's been no definitive answer. AFAIK they first surface in '84 on a rather excellent Hawkeye bootleg which gathered together all the (at the time) unavailable JD singles.
