If it's not old news to me, I guess many people must skip that forum.

I still wonder if it was a good idea... or we need to find a way to remind people of it.

First time i have seen this! Thanks:thumb: QUITE NICE:hat:

I think that news about any of the side projects is appropriate for DR...general discussions should be in those side forums but its nice to go to one forum for news...

As expected with almost anything to do with Electronic..... what a load of shit. What were they thinking? That it would be a nice James Bond pastiche?

At least it's not a white sleeve and centred Helvetica text as with every fucking New Order record these days. But it's still shit.

I don't know where to begin...

A still from the Forbidden City video? Well I wouldn't know about that, cos I never bothered with a single video by Electronic in the first place so couldn't even tell you what any of them were like!.... Like I'm arsed really! :p  :shades:

I think it's an excellent cover. An exciting photograph and very well laid out. The video for "Forbidden City" is excellent as well.

I think Spotnick has a point here. If you don't like Electronic, that's fine. We all have our individual tastes and whatnot, but I don't understand the logic of people hating a subject or thing so much that they would choose a thread about the thing and simply say things like "This is the worst thing ever", or "This is crap" or something of the sort.:nono: If you don't like whatever's talked about in the thread that much, then I think it would be wise to simply not bother with the thread.

Per WEA US b2b site today, the US edition is out Sept 19 as a single-disc only (no DVD).

Copy & pasted text from soliciation sheet below:

ELECTRONIC Get The Message: The Best Of Electronic (R2-77621)

“Feel Every Beat”—The ’90s Never Sounded Better Than on This First-Ever Hits Compilation From The U.K. Alt-Rock Supergroup With Pedigrees Including New Order, The Smiths, and Pet Shop Boys!

Tracks: Forbidden City Getting Away With It Get The Message Feel Every Beat Disappointed Vivid All That I Need For You Imitation Of Life Out Of My League Like No Other Twisted Tenderness Late At Night

British post-punk supergroup Electronic was the intermittent collaboration formed by Joy Division/New Order vocalist Bernard Sumner and ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Also featuring the Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant, the band was an influential taste-making force that released three groundbreaking albums throughout the ’90s before its members moved on creatively. For the time that these dynamic artists came together as Electronic, their dance-flavored sound pulsed with the freedom they experienced making music outside of their other, higher profile groups. Though their first gig was performing for 70,000 people at L.A.’s Dodger Stadium, Electronic’s collective spirit was personal and independent-minded. Infused with spirit and innovation, it made for some of the ’90s most compelling U.K.-centric altrock.

Album Facts: First-ever compilation from Marr, Sumner, and Tennant’s alt-rock supergroup. 13 essential hits and favorites, remastered for superior sound. Draws from their three acclaimed albums: Electronic (’91), Raise The Pressure (’96) and Twisted Tenderness (’00). Features the signature hits “Getting Away With It,” “Get The Message,” “Feel Every Beat,” and “Forbidden City.” Booklet features in-depth notes from Johnny Marr plus comments from Bernard Sumner.

Well I hadn't seen it either!

Very striking, like it.

On a jokey note, if you didn't know who it was, it looks like they've put the tall slim one at the front and the stocky short little trottered one at the back

No DVD for the US edition. :banghead: See my earlier post above.

Looks like I'll be buying the import.

Looks like a cool cover to me. Kinda hard to make 90s era Bernard look cool.

I must confess I always thought Electronic's first album artwork looked crappy, kinda lame

I like the artwork as the video was good....but a best of Electronic is a bit unnecessary. I mean there are only three albums, and only a few hits that actually made the radio. Reminds me of Spandeau Ballet, how they had two hits yet they had a "singles" and "best of" albums. Kinda pointless dontcha think?

Commiserations I would be peeved too, its like when those remixes (Guilt is a useless emotion?) were just on Usa ITunes, Why ?? :dunno:

but hell I would get it anyways as import and - hopefully - figure out how to watch afterwards! (If a different region disc that is)
