Hi Guys
It's my birthday on Monday - and as a celebration of getting old(er) I'm thinking of getting a tattoo done - was thinking of getting FAC 1971 (since I was born in 1971) - do you think It's tacky? I'm not sure where I'd have it done. Any ideas? What do you think - no sarcasm please!!

I think the nicest place for a gal to have a tattoo done is on the shoulder blade as that way you can hide it easily when it is not appropriate, but show it off when you want to.
Also as you wont be constantly looking at it you less likely to change your mind and regret it.
My first tat was on my shoulder blade, 14 years ago(Yikes that's gone quick) and I still love it. hope that helps Hugs Minx

I'd get a professional to do it. 
Why not just FAC71 though?! 1971 seems a little long-winded.
FAC71 certainly looks 'more' Factory and it didn't actually exist. There was FACT71 (Factory Outing) but not an actual FAC71, per se. Am sure I'm right on that.

As if! I had plenty of bad experiences with unfeminine women in my youth but none of them had "tats". Or piercings. Right up for this dress code suggested by MJ for October though. Nice polkadot frocks please. And go easy on the slap. Not a fan of too much make-up either.

I was hoping it wasn't about that midget guy from fantasy island....i saw a picture of him somewhere pointing a rifle at a camera and i couldn't help but laugh and think, that someone should yank that rifle out of his hand and beat him with the handle of it....he'd probably end up biting whoever in the leg...i say light a cigarette and burn him with it...

i have an ankh tattoo on my right forearm. my dad thinks if it were red instead of blue it would look like kenny from south park (ness and i spoke about it in liverpool).
as for off-road tattooing: it's from the movie jackass. henry rollins drives an off-road vehicle over some hardcore terrain as steve-o gets tattooed. in the end it looks like child's scribble. a highly recommended film: 4 stars for asinine behaviour.

I'm all up for dressing up in a frock - I believe polka dots are quite this season. Trouble is the practicalities of it - a nice frock needs to be seen with nice heels, heels and the foray at gigs don't go well together. Trainers don't look too good with a frock especially with short trotters like mine - might work for Miss Jem!
Medium amount of make-up, but it usually melts off in the excitement!

Maybe wear a frock to the pre-gig drink up and then do a quick change into combats and trainers for the actual gig... sounds like alot of effort tho

Hmmm....I see your point. This seasons polkadot frock look tends to be combined with footless tights which DEMAND heels. Not practical in the gig environment. Bare legs and trainers may result in a Lily Allen-esque style clash which few can pull off (not even Ms Allen herself). What's a girl to do?
On another note, I was up meeting one of the companies whose web content we manage and noticed from their latest artwork proofs that they've booked yer man's band for one of their units up here in October (Stavka).

You seem to know an awful lot about frock etiquette Glas!!!
Actually I prefer to wear my footless tights with a scruffy denim skirt and ballet shoes 
go for the FAC383. this will be known as the official hardcore New Order fan number on years to come. you see, Tony Wilson himself agreed to give away this catalog number for the Vikings, as the hardcore fans like to be called. i know many of them are getting a tat with this number. ok, so you won´t be "original" but at least you´ll be "official" ;)

Right that's settled def, avoiding the Lily Allen dodgy student look - sticking to jeans and trainers, one can always throw in a cleavage top for a nod in the direction of feminity.

Amusingly, I downloaded all my pics from Madrid/Barca last night looking for the huge Procession tattoo Hull Andy had across his shoulder.
For some reason, he's topless in every pic I've got of him but ...

'FAC71' would cost about £25,maybe a bit more.I've got 3 Factory related tats,the Get Ready font of 'New Order',the 'Use Hearing Protection' from Fac2,& an ACR one.A 4th is due,the Substance font spelling Joy Division,looks really good,altho am having it vertically whereas it looks better horizontal.I say go for it,what you're thinking of getting won't hurt that bad,depends where you have it,the fleshier the less pain!
