Our version.

Like a bright light on the horizon Shining so bright, he'll get you flying Drive you away, Drive you insane but down on your move honour your pain

A suggestion:

Like a bright light on the horizon Shining so bright, he'll get you flying He'll drive you away, he'll drive you insane But then he'll remove all of your pain

What do you think?

And there is the "Set you free" line in the Felix Da Housecat Remix...

i keep hearing it as "they'll only move on your pain."

dunno if that's right, but none of us really does, ne? :D

To me it sounds more like "renew" than "remove."

I totally agree with you....I have listened to that song about a million times and I refuse to believe that Barney is saying "Honour your pain...." It sounds more like: He'll then remove...all of your pain."

You have to change it on the lyrics section. I was just about to suggest that as a change as well.

Good Work

I agree it's "then he'll remove all of your pain" I was the one who originally came up with "down on your move honour your pain" I think Major posted what I now beleive to be the correct lyrics at the time, it just didn't get picked up.

After more listens, it is "remove."

That was my suggestion... and i think it's spot on! ;)

agreed, after more listens...it's definitely "but then he'll remove all of your pain."

He's the protagonist from "All Day Long."

He'd drive me crazy, and he'd drive me wild.

Don't know what our respective spouses and children will be doing...grocery shopping I guess.

well, you could always hope that your respective spouses would hook up and agree to share custody of the kids while you two followed the newly-reformed MBV around on tour...? :D

or, er...not. perhaps. ;)

I might be tripping but i thought I heard;

like a bright light on the horizon shining so bright, hell get you flying hell drive you in need hell drive you insane then hell renew all of your pain

like a bright light on the horizon trying to supply, hell get you flying hell drive you in need hell drive you insane then hell renew all of your pain

It is :

"He'll drive you inane, drive you insane, then he'll remove, all of your pain"

15 years on from True Faith and Barneys still singing about drugs - maybe one of the reasons Radio 1 don't like it so much

Yeah, agreed - It makes sense :smoking:

Is it possible the lyrics 'We're Here to Stay' (repeated toward the latter segment of the song) are the defiant statement that NO are indeed here to stay in amongst us producing fabulous recordings for the general public to purchase?

... perhaps a more apt (and accurate) lyric would be 'We're Here to Occassionally Consider Releasing 1 Song On Average Every 7 Months Until We Get Bored Around Early 2003'.

Cynical ... yes, but nobody won a war serving tea.

I hear it as PAUSE myself, I agree with all the other lyrics as posted by -1. It does not make sense mind you but that is what I hear & sing ;)

Another external suggestion...

"this bomb set off by time"

Instead of PAWN or ALL...

...how about "this force set off by time" ...?

I beg to differ.

The opening line of that chorus sounds like this to me:

"Like The White Lion on the horizon...."

which can either mean one of two things: a) Barney's on so much drugs he's still hallucinating about mythical big cat-like creatures..... b) Barney's spent the last four months trudging through the Sahara, almost close to collapse from sheer nervous exhaustion and dehydration....then he spots it - a mirage, of his favourite Macclesfield pub - The White Lion - just there in the distance. Needless to say, he suddenly regains the strength to go on, stumbling onwards towards it in hope of finding much needed refuge and refreshment at long last........

Easy when you know how...

:cool2: :cool2:

after 4 month in the Sahara he'd surely be slimmer?! :D

you two are starting to crack me up!!!

Remember Cheeky - if Barney was born a camel, he'd have FOUR humps.....

*shakes her head*...and hadn't he taken up running at one point, too? now, running through the Sahara...that would indeed be something to see!

that being said, i did something extremely painful yesterday.

i subjected myself to the Scumfrog mix of HTS in its entirety. TWICE IN A ROW.

(and indeed, i really don't care for this mix, either.)

this allowed me to learn that yes, it *is* indeed "this force set off by time." there's a bit (if you've not yet made it through this version yourself, and i'll completely understand if you haven't... ) where everything drops out except Barney's vocal, and this line is part of it, so you can hear very clearly what he's saying.

BTW, since the cleavage discussion doesn't seem to want to fade away quietly, and since i've now got my hands on the Felix da Housecat mix (completely with canyonesque echoing effect placed on Barney's voice), i thought i'd share the following revelation reached at dinner with friends last Saturday night. (and for the record, no liquor was involved this time round...*that* was the night before! )

cleavage does indeed have an echo. especially large cleavage.

*coughs*

so, in conclusion, who needs effects units when you are your own...? :D
