I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Barney got his nickname from the Flintstones character, Barney Rubble, because of his droll sense of humor.

Anyone know if this is true?

Oddly, he's credited on various early recordings- such as Warsaw's 1977 Ideal Living EP- as Barney Rubble..

Personally I think its because Hooky is prone to shouting "Yabbadabbadoooo" and Barney is also married to Betty.....
