I'd love to know before pushing the development of this further.

I'm sure some people might have privacy issues with these, like thinking I might read them and people might hack into it, I can ensure you I don't have time to do that :p and nor the will, and I will enforce security to make sure it doesn't happen. I already started to protect more privacy by not keeping passwords in clear text, so I might also use encryption at some point.

But other than that, I know some people required to have "contacts" so they don't have to type the names all the time, but I'll work on this because I know some flaws.

Take care.

PM's can be useful, yes. Saves people clogging up the boards with tat that is only of relevance to a couple of people.

Can't see the point of the "friends" thing though (says he, Billy no mates!)

Keep 'em.

Much preferable to having your e-mail on display for every drive-by harvester to help themselves to.

I like 'em, not sent any and only recieved 2 but still very useful.

Useful definitely, I can pick up PM's instantly.

Spotnick, could you read other people's private messages if you wanted to?

He'd have to be REALLY bored to want to do that

Yes, I could, but I won't. And I'm the only one that could do it since I have full access to the database.

Just like Microsoft can probably read everything sent using hotmail.

Believe me, I am a lot of more important stuff than this, but if you have fears, use email, no problem there.

Defo a fan of the PM's.

Yeah, PM's are cool.

Might I request that you put that tag thing into the PM page but...the one that says "do not cache this page".

Could do with it on the profile edit page if it's not done already...I can't remember if it STILL brings up a cahced version when you go back to it after making changes ( which is what freaks a lot of people out about editing their profiles)

My friend uses a site where she suspected the Moderator had a good nosey at her PM's, so her and another girl concocted a plan to find out.

They started emailing each other with one of them pretending to have a major crush on him. Sure enough he suddenly started emailing her all the time. My friend doesn't use PM's anymore.

Don't worry Spotnick, we know you won't peep (our lives aren't that interesting!)

Both PM's and 'friends' are very gay.

Unless you're 14 and really don't know any better.

Since I have 0 messages I would have to say its not very useful, but If I do want to talk to people private I just use myspace. But I'm sure I will use it someday.

I got it, and sent him a message back saying it was shit and calling him a cunt.

You'll get a freinds request from him before long then, Liam...

PM seems like a good idea, despite Steedie's best efforts... Friends? Who needs 'em? Though it might be fun to have an enemies list as well... :evil4:
