That sounds a bit ominous doesn't it? Does anyone here think that there might be an instrumental version of this one?

Oh dear, so NOOL has already been contaminated with the sound of that gimp Brandon Flower's VOICE???

Saints preserve us!!!
I seriously do not understand in this day and age why it is impossible to create a file that "self destructs" after a few days etc so that people can preview music and then choose to buy it later on...

you mean like the pay-for-licensing things that microshaft wants to use for their Zune POS?

Whoopeee!!!
Glad I never heard it then if it's been deleted!
The Killers singing their own songs is bad enough thanks.....
As they say - no gain, no pain!! ;)

To quote Almanso, we had better versions for the Community competition!
But nevertheless, there is no such things as digital music you can't copy... you can always record "what you hear" via any recording software, or plug the output of your sound board to any recording device.
So, it's useless to invest money in that.
the new blue-ray and hd-dvd have encryption that can be updated.. this should be fun ;)
No wonder Hooky wanted it taking off here.
If there was a website about me, I wouldn't want crap like that on there.
Fucking useless twats ![]()
I have to say their version has its moments. Does sound a lot like She Wants Revenge, but then the Killers always sound like someone else, like NO on their first album and Meatloaf on the second.

No. I mean like letting people on a fan site preview a song that many of them are going to buy anyway so if they like it they can tell their friends. The free track could basically work for x number of days/plays and then not function...it can't be technically that difficult to do.
Even better would be to let Nic stream the song from the site so that people would have to come here to preview it.
And yes the methodology with the Zune is a scam...
I didn't think it was horrid but it wasn't anything special either.

So if you do have it, keep it to yourself please.
Or leave it in a packet at an airport with the word 'BOMB' written on it!
I believe Shadowplay does not appear in the movie as such, but is played in its entirety during the closing credits of the movie.
Oh, THAT's a good idea - well done to whoever came up with that one, cos it means we can make a dash for the exits once the actual film is over with - sparing us the torture of foghorn creamhorn and his el greco moustaches.

I hope it aint to late to ask someone to email me it. I'm desperate to hear what it sounds like.

Cheers!
I agree that this is sub-sub-Community quality. Sounds nothing like either Joy Division or The Killers. Aurally, shit comes to mind. Sounds like they cut the balls (or the bassline) out of the song and replaced it with that off-tone wailing and terrible hoo-hoos. Thankfully it'll give me a legitimate reason to rush out of the theatre at the end of the movie.
Saw the Killers on More 4's Live from Abbey Road enthusing about Dire Straits. I think they must really have lost it as the best thing you can say about that lot is they're Dire and Straight!

& that is more than enough said on the subject!
I definitely want to hear this. Can someone sent it over to randlor88@hotmail.com please? Thanks in advance!

It doesn't Worth It!!
I'll throw my email in there too, just out of curiosity and disgust...if someone would be kind enough to share it, it would be appreciated. thanks!

Heard a bad quality clip of it so I'd like to hear it if someone has the time to mail it to me. cathalmotherway@gmail.com
cheers
Killers played shadowlay in their encore at newcastle arena last night....Very Amused to see the bemusement of a lot of the audience!!...if the quality of covers is gonna be like this on the movie 'control' i cant say my hopes are high!! maybe a way of generating more interest in the film could have been to have a community style face off of JD covers by anyone and everyone instead of high profile bands like the killers!!!
they're american aren't they? americans should leave JD songs alone...what they touch turns to shite. think i'm gonna need a flame-proof suit now.

This is getting unbearable. And now they're performing the song live?? As if they don't have enough shamelessness as it is.
Maybe somebody should hand them a copy of Paul Young's "No Parlez?"album and force them at gunpoint to listen to HIS cover of "Bad 80s Production Will Tear This Song Apart" just so they can get an idea of how to do PROPER Joy Division cover versions?

They mailed in a performance at Aberdeen. The best way to describe the crowd for the rest of the night was 'adoring'.
Shadowplay seemed confuse the hell out of everyone.
The only NO fan in the audience turned his back in disgust.
the fact that "profile " bands are still covering j.d material 28years after the original was recorded (29 since it was wrote) is surley a testimony to the song,,beats bloody u2 playing l.w.tu.a. at wembley in 87.
even the wife!s talking about the killers,,mmmmm.
i watched it slip away.
What do you guys have against The Killers? I don't know the band much but their song "Read My Mind" is amazing. Why are you looking down at them?
I quiet like killers actually. But just listening to the mp3 and it is a bit mickey mouse. Kind of has a school band trying to imatate gods. Stick to what you know best boys. Whats all that synth shite at the start. As they get into the song they have a primal scream sound to it. Well not impressed
They performed it tonight on the NME awards,Channel 4 screwed up and titled it UNCLE JONNY off the SAM'S TOWN album.Musically it was alright, but Brandon's vocal weren't up to it though.Hooky was there and gave it a nod of approval though.
Why choose the Killers anyways? They remind me more of ABC than of Joy Division. If they were going for name recognition, think Interpol would have a been a way better choice...and they are back together so it is plausible(new album out this Summer supposedly). Guess I should give the song a chance before dashing it, but the words of others here confirm my preminitions......

I think they got their name from the Crystal video which solidifies them as fans so I think it's ok that they were chosen or that they offered to do it.

I like it.
I like how you can see Hooky laughing and covering his forehead at the beginning.
They could have done so much better. It's as if they put no effort into the song at all. I'm slightly annoyed. But I'll get over it.
I really don't like the hoots in the song. I'm gonna cringe at the end of "Control" as the credits roll by. Let's hope the movie doesn't have funny out-takes and gag reels while the credits roll, because I'll want to roll out of there when this song hits.
Just came back from the Killers concert in Berlin. They did "Shadowplay" as an encore again. Different than the original, but I like it.
BTW: I am not 100% sure but I think the guitar player announced "We're gonna rock the shack!" before they played "Mr. Brightside".
