He was on front page of the Manchester Evening News today, and he chose to write a two page feature commending the NHS. "People who slate the NHS are usually people who don't use it" He goes on to thank all the doctors and nurses who have helped him. Also mentions that a drug called SOLENT is an experimental new drug which can guarantee a better success rate of recovery, but it's only offered privately at a cost of £2600 a cycle. For a successful recovery, someone might require about 6 cycles of treatment, which requires a tube inserted underarm, and one inserted "where the the sun don't shine". "And if there's any politicians reading this, make this available to everyone." He's still kept his sense of humour, and I wish him all the best. :thumb: :thumb:

In all seriousness, I say we start a Prayer Brigade.

Tony, you're at the top of the prayer list in my Brigade. All the best, and hang in there. You've gone through a lot--Ian's suicide. The falling-through of the Hacienda. Rob's death. You can get through this too. I have faith in that.

We all go through dark tunnels in our lives... some worse than others, but dark all the same. But there's always that shining light at the end that always leads us through.

And that light is hope.

All the best...

I admire everyone who has to battle cancer and can still stay optimistic. I don't think I could. But I sense somehow Tony's going to get well... All the best ...!

http://tinyurl.com/2sxy54 I've set up this Tiny URL which redirects to the very long original address of the Manchester Evening News site with the news article and links to Tony's article, and to the form where you can send him messages of support. I'm sure he'll read them cos they'll be good for his huge ego, and he needs it all to go through what he's facing. He's a hero for what he has created, and he was also very kind and funny with me when I met him, so I obviously feel so sorry for him...

Good luck Tony- You are probably the 1st new order related memory I ever had- I remember watching you on Granada Reports as a little tyke...

All the very best. A positive attitude is a great help in beating this bastard of an illness- and you certainly have lorryloads of that!

BEST WISHES.

His response is admirable, whatever your prejudice against him.."I'll treat it as another one of life's adventures"

Now that's either a man putting on on a very brave face,or the sign of a remarkably brave man.Either way hat's off. Tremendous spirit, and bollocks to burn..I fuckin love that in a man.He was alrightish before anyhow, but he's just gone right up in my estimation.Good luck!

Fight the good fight. Met him once and he was a very nice guy, not the complete cunt people like to portray him as.

Cheers

My mother was diagnosed with a large tumour of the kidney in November 05.

She's subsequently made a full recovery.

I sincerely hope Tony beats this, he's always been very interesting and engaging bloke, and the world would be a dull place without him.
