The collaboration between graphic designer Peter Saville and New Order that resulted in their innovative album covers -- some of the best in music history -- is explored in this article on a site about graphic design: http://www.designdrivethru.net

I'm a designer in New York and I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on New Order's covers... specifically, are the more recent designs as successful as their first few releases? Is one design generally thought among fans to be the best?

Cheers for the link ROB.An interesting read.As one who is known here for loving the complete works of SAVILLE and his ASSOCIATES,indeed i have to buy all the books too,i still think his work in it's earliest forms was the best. But this is due to my rose tinted glasses and remembering WHEN WE WERE YOUNG.I don't get as excited these days with the ARTWORK but this is no detracts from it still be admired by me.Within these forums there has been some very vociferous detractors of his newer stuff. But sometimes for me i think one's personnel circumstances have to be taken into account.I know how impressed i was when i saw his exhibition at THE URBIS in MANCHESTER.The explanations and shear volume of work was a treasure to behold. As one of those weird persons that need the covers to be MINTY MINT i have some fantastic examples of his work from 27 years ago that looks like they were made yesterday.God knows what will happen to these once i leave this mortal coil.Probably end up in a skip just like the rare artefacts dumped when FACTORY went under.Anyhow welcome and hope this has shed some light for you between the waffling! :thumb:  Regards ROCKET MICK
