Torrents are pretty easy to understand, even I have mastered it!

It's a peer to peer network, so basically you are sharing the files you download with others. The best torrent downloader I have used is :

http://www.utorrent.com/download.php

Once you have downloaded a torrent, you need a flac programme to decode the files to wma......

http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

Simply open up the flac programme, drop the flac files you have downloaded into it and click decode. This will change the files to wma for you and put them in the same folder as your original download.

I hope this helps.

Shug,

U can also burn a cd with the flac files using a programme called Media Monkey.

Also if you use Nero, you can get it to burn the FLAC's directly by using THIS PLUGIN which needs to be located in the \AudioPlugins directory of your Nero installation.

Indeed Julio, Nero also does the trick :thumb:

I have listened to this stuff all morning, for anyone expecting totally different versions, you won't be getting them, these versions are very similar to what was put out, the slight hissing gets on yer nerves a wee bit as well......

But this is a must have for any fan and a great find, many thanks to the lad who made these available to the rest of us.

I highly recommend the Lift music :D

For those who don't have access to bit torrents or don't possess "bittorrent for dummies".

NOOL Radio Vol 26

Just a few bits of it are on there.

Enjoy.

Just had a listen to the first dozen or so of these tracks, and it's been very interesting (yes, even the lift recordings - those clunks and hums and whirrings are key moments in Unknown Pleasures!).

For my money, the most interesting so far have been the Earcom tracks - From Safety to Where and Autosuggestion. These mixes include different elements missing from the familiar versions, as well as more upfront vocals.

Am I right in assuming that these recordings must originate from "rough mix" tapes Martin Hannett took home with him to assess in breaks between studio sessions?

If so, it would be interesting to know whether the master tape or a copy was used to produce the bootlegger's CD.

Also of interest is what else might be lurking amongst the remains of the late Martin Hannett's personal effects. One of the spoken snippets features him referring to the Haçienda - this must necessarily originate from a recording made at a later date, so presumably there is more than one master tape!

Well, I did say I wasn't going to pay that eBay fee...

Just having a go at the torrent now.

Thanks - very interesting stuff. Got a long drive tomorrow and this is now on the mp3.

Whilst I was exploring torrents - which I have to confess were a complete mystery 4 hours ago - I came across a torrent on the same site for "New Order 1988 Demos". I am sure I'm coming to this YEARS after many of you but can you forgive and someone PLEASE reseed(?.

There were a couple of familiar names on there! Thanks.

Young Offender - I'm pretty sure the Hannett comments are taken from the "Play At Home" Channel 4 soundtrack.
