In concert they sometimes announced it as "PUMPED FULL OF DRUGS"....... it's kind of great though.....Love the sequencer work, it has a dark, goth feel. Also love the transition to ambient synth part and hook's rhythm as always, tons of Hook on this one.

I've been on a "TTON" kick for the past week now, actually. Wasn't ever really that big on the song, but I'm getting addicted (no pun) to it now. Would like to hear this song remixed like the other songs.
This is in my top ten of NO songs. I like it for being quite dark, tense and broody. I love the coda that takes the quite downbeat verse up to the dramatic chorus.
And its got some of my favourite bass riffs from Sir Hooky, some great drum rolls, dramatic keyboards and a lovely piano instrumental.
I too, would like to see a reworking of it. But then I would for rest of Lowlife and Brotherhood.

A top tune and definitely one of the highlights of Low-Life which is a masterwork. Even without getting the sample clearance necessary for them to use (the late) Jeffery Bernard on the intro, it's still a class act.
Hooky's bass work and the bass sequence (which is somewhat reminiscent of A Forest) is just inspired. It's on the Pumped Full Of Drugs live vid which has to be seen just for the mostly bemused reception of the Japanese audience!

Hmm, no idea, you'll have to get the Kershaw brains trust started on that one. The song's working title was Pumped Full of Drugs as well.......there is one live tape, which I can't remember, where he goes "this one's uh...pumped full of drugs". Much later than May 85 though.

Some licencing nonsense prevents a DVD release outside Japan I think - as the production rights are co-owned by Nippon Columbia.

Not arsed about crowd reaction, the gig itself i like. Good choice of songs and Sumners on form "Turn that light off you CUNT!" classic!

Interesting you should mention the bass sound - this was the tour where they didn't have the Clone Theory - it was a combination of digital delay and chorus pedals instead. On a couple of the Australian shows the difference is really prominent.

Nah, they just got stuck into the sake(dunno how to do accented letters on computer-anyway it's rice wine for those who don't know), Barney has a quick swig of it just before Blue Monday on the PFD vid.
Sake and Pernod (but not usually together) were the drinkies of choice during the 80s apparently, although Barney later declared his liking for absinthe, the lethal French spirit which was banned in a lot of countries.
TTON is a towering high point on an album with no duff tracks. Everything about it is class: the intro drum machine loop, the A Forest bass sequence, the arpeggio and then Hooky, Steve and Barney really kick it. Even the vocal refrain towards the end - "Whatever you may do to me, you cannot take my dignity" - is magic. I recorded several versions of this for years afterwards and the song rarely left my head. Pure gold.

I'm afraid not. They were mastered straight to old-fashioned cassette so the quality's not hot to begin with. Most of them are instrumental versions as I'm no vocalist either. Still, I got a buzz out of working on them. Was it covered on either of the Community CDs?

There was a cover version somewhere,maybe a contender for first Community CD. Cant remember who by (American?) but it was pretty good.

Yeh,Brisbane East Leagues gig is definately the same,very prominent.
Right about another gig where TTOF is intro'd as PFD,& later than May '85 too,tho' can't remember which

I call myself that because first off, my life really is not a holiday. I deal with a lot of tough things and i got some issues i'm not gonna go over right now. Secondly, I call myself this because I'm an agnostic, and I don't like organized religion, so in the ritualistic sense I don't do holidays. Thirdly, i'm currently a temp at my job and I don't get any benefits like "holiday pay".
But yeah my birthday is in May. I'll be 25.
