I wont be able to make this so if anyone wants me to apply for tickets for a specific venue i'll do so gladly.

Hiya folks! Just got back from the free Rochdale screening.Missed the first five minutes stuck in traffic. VERDICT a very good film.Perfectly captures the 70's feel. Must a bit it was hard to swallow watching actors play JD at first, not so much with 24HR Party People as one:they were known actors,and two:they didn't have as much screen time. But once you accept that,it's thoroughly watchable. Did a good job of recreating their sound. Sam Morton is excellent as usual. Sam Riley was amazing.Uncannily looks and sings like Ian,and despite the mechanics of Debbie Curtis' novelisation of Ian,he does bring a touching side to him,particularly his relationship with Annik. Not so much a film of Joy Division as a film of a young couple who were probably too young getting married. "Rob Gretton" steals the show with all the best lines. As for the new New Order stuff,quite surprised it was them,it was only when Hooky's bass kicked in that I realised it as them! Quite surprised Hannett's character isn't explored more in the film,he appears fleetingly during recordings unintroduced. Memorable bits? Ian walking down the street the day after seeing The Pistols,and then turning down the street revealing HATE painted on the back of his jacket.Also the closing shot of crematorium smoke escaping into the air to "ATMOSPHERE". Oh and the Derby Hall gig with Crispy Ambulance stand-in! Found myself watching for our Fradders on every gig!!

Oh I could tell you the ending,but I didn't want to spoil it for you.

PS Anyone else who's managed to see it yet,unless I missed it during the first five minutes which isn't likely if it's in the same chronological order of "Touching From A Distance"......but they seemed to have cut out the bit where Debbie surprises Ian,and he cowers down on the carpet,and yet it does appear in the trailer.

One thing did occur to me after film.What would Natalie make of the film? He is portrayed as not wanting to be at home,but I'm sure,if you excuse the pun,it's not as Black And White as that.

Just been watching Alexandra Maria Lara again on telly in DOWNFALL. She's lovely as Annik.

lots of manchester/factory/ jd/no laughs in quips to relieve the tragedy. actor of curtis was fantastic, but to be picky he can't cry and his singing voice showed a little more, well, training. my son made the trip with me and although he knows the legacy, has seen no and has jd/no on his ringtones, said he felt emotional at the end and thought the film fantastic. his darlington college friend was miffed cos he saw the preview. darlo order influence??

was pleasanly surprised that the odeon had a stand full of film freebies. so now we have an a1 poster of control, limited edition (signed by cast and new order) programme and the soundtrack. thank you odeon rochdale for such a service! It made a stark difference to the petrol refill at tesco's. i couldn't get petrol until i asked someone. i had to press a button, get the ok from the desk. when i went to pay they were complaining and refusing to allow a man with merc to fill cos he'd done a runner that morning.

One of our French friends claimed that that scene didn't appear in the film. Must've made the UNOFFICIAL trailer but not into the film itself. DVD bonus features to be.

Good call Anton for doing it in black and white. It did give it the feel of a British kitchen-sink drama featuring the likes of Albert Finney or Tom Courtenay.....only with a cooler soundtrack.

Just remembered another thing.....the guffaws in the audience when during an intimate moment between Ian and Annik,she asks him "Tell me about Macclesfield.."

It isn't on anywhere in the Stoke-on-Trent/North Staffs area, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Lucky that I'm in London this weekend then!
