Well, I did pay for them, and I could release them without any problem.

I'd say buy the 6 songs only... there is nothing new in the interviews, though I didn't listen in full.

Is this in reference to the interview bits, or the whole thing? Will this be downloadable on media.neworderonline.com?

Well, not since 'Confusion' came out, but it's good to hear Bernard talking.

I was thinking about a podcast more than a pure download ;)

Let's say I don't want anybody to lose money neither. But I doubt they consider the interview bits as being what would force anyone to buy the whole thing.

Our kid's an Apple Head - she bought them and burnt me a cd which is now spinning merrily in my car. So ya boo to the Pirates, I've gone legit :thumb:

it sounds like Barney's interviews were recorded about the time of the last US tour. (and then exclusively repeated verbatim for the Sun last weekend).

Run Wild is aright - one of my favourite tracks anyway and a cleaner version than they managed at any of the gigs, but still not clinical by any means.

The version of Love Vig is storming.

The interviews are good, some new stuff there amongst the usual tales. I'll probably burn another cd without them on though.

I would be interested to know more about the sessions that produced these tracks.

Weren't they simply invited to studio by Apple on April 25th, 2005 to do it for iTunes, since they were in America?

And were all the tracks recorded that day?

If so, that's quite a days work!

I'm sure they had prepared well before that. All they had to do was to play 6 songs and chitchat and then have 2 years of mixing and mastering.

It was a busy day for them, They played about 4 songs on Jimmy kimmel, and then played the Itunes set when the audience left.

I hope people know this is just live songs with no audience.

Thought so. But Kimmel's show was aired 04/29, i.e. live.

Live earlier in the day

They played Krafty, Lwtua, Temptation and I think regret??? on Jimmy Kimmel But Jimmy only aired Krafty and half of Lwtua. Now that I think about it they might have played 6 songs but I cant remember?

They were busy, 3 shows in 3 days. Oakland, Jimmy kimmel & Palm Springs.

Bought the whole thing. Not bad. Kick 'Run Wild' into touch though - ranks just above WIFM.

Is it just me or would Run Wild be a top class New Order song if there weren't so many religious references in it? The religious angle (Jesus, Jehovah, Sin etc) always well and truly annihilates any "cool" factor in it for me. Even more so than any of Barney's earlier and more embarrassing lyrical efforts.

It's a shame because the arrangements and mix on the Steve Osborne version are brilliant.

There's a time and a place for religious lyrics... so I can make sure I'm not around to hear them.

I've never had a problem with the appropriation of religious rhetoric to accentuate secular emotions, or even the emotions of secular people anyway, but Run Wild takes that appropriation to a new level, for me.

Anyone who has enjoyed the experience of parenthood will tell you that a whole new palate of emotion develops and suddenly phrases and ideologies that never made sense start to feel more relevant. Anything that challenges previously firm opinions is an awkward thing, and that awkwardness can be felt in this lyric. The strange appearance of such language in a New Order song jars, as do the strange feelings that a new parent experiences.

This is why the rumour that the song was about the Morris' child struck a chord with me; God forbid (see what I did there?) I should ever find myself in that position, but I'm sure I would feel like praying to any and all branches of religion and witchcraft to make my child better. Anyone would, no matter how strongly they opposed or rejected religion before this point in their lives.

'If Jesus comes to take your hand, I won't let go' is such a lovely line. That one phrase conveys, if you think about it, the helplessness of caring about someone who is ill. You would hold on as tightly as you could, but to what? There are just some things you just can't fight. Some forces are irresistible. For me, the other religious references in the song act to support that line, so although they jar when they first appear, it works well in the end.

The bass in the middle eight is fantastic too.

You're allowed to burn a certain number of copies as part of the download agreement.

My sister has promised to delete the original files anyway, and as they were purchased for me there is no moral problem either.

In case anyone from Apple is reading this you can check by looking at her account.

Her name is Jeanette Hibster

(fucking snitch)

Wouldn't worry about it....total artist income from soulseek and iTunes is exactly the same.

just listened to Transmission and it was only when Bernard started singing that I realised I wasn't listening to the Control cast members version!

And having now listened to the absolutely shit soundtrack version of the film cast playing Transmission, I am non-plussed. It's not a difficult song to play or sing, how can it be so badly butchered? It's terrible!

Just purchased this but track 16 says it's corrupt and won't download!!

Sorry for my ignorance, but what's "non-plussed"?

Can anyone provide this collection at all?

And while I'm at it, can anyone point me in the direction of a download for "In Session"? This iTunes collection and "In Session" are proving to be absolute bastards to locate.

I would, but I'm in Australia and I think they're inaccessible for me from the iTunes store. As for In Session, I would, but I'm finding it impossible to locate. Even on eBay.

Common misconception that one. Non-plussed actually means perplexed or confused.

PS Ryan: The New Order iTunes Originals have been available to download from iTunes Australia for ages.

I know that, I was simply saying what Tim meant.

i actually recorded the iTunes Originals back in April 2005 -- yes -- the day after they played the jimmy show.

we recorded 7 songs in just a few hours! so even though they were done in the studio, they are very much live performances...

spent a long time mixing tho... :-)

hope you enjoy (at least some of) them!

Can't it mean two different things?

a.) To understand something would be a plus.So to be confused by it would qualify as not a plus, hence non-plussed.

or

b.) To be impressed by something would be a plus.So to not be impressed by something would not be a plus, hence non-plussed
