I was wondering...

Wire is a band made of four persons. They made an album without the drummer. So they called themselves Wir.

Even if they are four on stage, New Order are three, in most of our minds, since Gillian left. So, Order for Barney and Steve would have been a good option...

But they preferred Bad Lieutenant, as Hooky was found guilty of intelligence with the enemy against the New Order...

Ditto. Though I bet someone will see a nazi connotation in this project title as well.

Me too, that has to be a krafty dig. Either way, Bad Lieutenant is a great name.

Also, do they have lieutenants in the German army ? C'mon, gotta keep the long running joke going.

Maybe this is project that could bring Gillian back in the studio? I really would like to hear her light handed synthersizer sound again. And after that Hooky....

They are taking the piss.......Steve will be chortling away about how this throwaway remark has been seized on and is now international news.

It conjure up one thing of interest though. You could only really pronounce New Order in one way.

Is this Bad Lootenant or Bad Leftenant?

If you've seen the movie....from the scene where keitel is harassing the 15 year old girls he catches driving

"Does your daddy know you have his car (substitute =band )out tonight? Does he know? Turn around and show me your ass"

yeah...its kinda like that :D

I'll believe it when the cd hits the stores....other than that I think its just a humourous stab at Hooky.

It sounds like the real deal to me. Bad Lieutenant is a great name for a band, or a good name anyway. I don't think it passes the humor test as a 'joke'.

I'm still curious what is such a big deal to make them stop working together after thirty years. Or maybe thirty years together is enoiugh to drive anyone batty.

you know, the soul never gets old,its the damn shell that does. so yer looking at a bunch of 17-28 year olds in middle aged shells. guess which one is 17.

"Sumner said: "I'm working on some stuff at the moment. Steve is gonna be involved with it, and it's a project called Bad Lieutenant."

Joke or not, hasn't anyone noticed the (maybe) 'subconscious' "I'M working on some stuff... Steve is gonna be involved with it."

Maybe the new band name should be: 'Arrogant General :clown: and trusty Lance Corporal :tank:'?

You often find that the foot soldiers are those with more talent.

Whatever they do, I'm sure I'll buy it, but for me, 'Freebass' will wipe the floor with them, both live and in the studio unless they're very careful.

After all, both Monaco and The Other Two were so much more inventive than most of the tracks from Electronic...

Bernard could've just meant 'this is my project, but Steve is making some guest appearances' that's all...

What a fookin shite name.

Cannae wait to hear the music though.

Agree that I'll believe it when I hear it. Maybe Bernard will get inspired again by the conflict.

People shouldn't be negative towards Hooky or Marr, or perpetuate the image of the conflict between the members. None of these people have anything left to prove, and they all deserve and have earned respect. Let them have fun, and do what they want and not what they are expected to do.

Not always, not always.

:nono: Good, but not more or less inventive. None comes close the New Order.

Quite like the name 'Bad Lieutenant'. Singular name for a duo, interesting.

re: the film - I would love to have been there when they pitched that one to Holywood! Excellent film, but boy, twas depressing and not something I'd revisit again in a hurry! :eek3:

I can't wait until Freebass and Bad Lietenant tour or do a festival together.

It's not a Hollywood film, btw. It's an independent film filmed in pre-Giuliani NYC. You can see the difference.

ok but it could also be that this "bad lieutenant' is really just a Bernard solo work that will feature Steve in a couple of tracks

in fact, whoever made this interview should have asked for more info, now we have even more questions...lame journalists :nono:

I got a movie poster of the film. It shows a naked Harvey Keitel... So this project will be interesting :D .

I think (and hope) the name Bad Lieutenant is just a joke... There would be terrible problems with spelling in non-English countries. Electronic were going to be named Sell Your Body, I'm sure Bernard will find the real name for this project later, when it will be really taking form... I suppose he doesn't even want a shared project like Electronic was with Marr, that's why he's saying Steve will be involved... it won't be Bernard an and Steve, it will be Bernard with Steve and others, mainly a true solo project, really curious to hear that...

Who is betting that whatever any of them do will suck without all of them.

At thier age, they all need to stop bitching and realize that they are only good sounding when they are newOrder.

And just another suggestion, "you might want to return to your roots" its the reason most of us started listening to you in the first place.

New Order to reform:confused2: wouldn't that be nice I think Hooky would stick to his little band FREE BASS:nod: or would be another STOP AND GO:skeptic: I love New Order too bits I will be honest with you it would be really nice:thumb: cause if it isn't true then I will be like this:spit: or I will end up:banghead: Missy:crazy:

Hooky's typical fan:shades: :smoking:
