Control leads indie oscars:
The nominations for this year's British Independent Film Awards has revealed the hottest talent to come out of the country.
Control, a movie charting the life of rock band Joy Division and starring Samantha Morton and newcomer Sam Riley, is leading the way with ten nods.
The film looks at the life of frontman and cult figure Ian Curtis, who committed suicide in 1980.
The unknown Riley has been entered into the best actor and most promising newcomer categories for his role as the tragic rocker.
The biopic has been included in the best film line-up with Morton picking up a nomination for best supporting actress.
And When Did You Last See Your Father?, an adaptation of Blake Morrison's best-selling book, has seven nominations including best actor for Jim Broadbent and best supporting actor for Colin Firth.
One star who is guaranteed a gong on the night is Ray Winstone who will receive the outstanding contribution award.
Eastern Promises, Notes On A Scandal, Hallam Foe and the forthcoming Brick Lane are also up for awards.
The winners will be announced at a star-studded ceremony in London on November 28.
